SOCIAL & PERSONAL NEWS Miss Billy Newell is home from E. C. T. C. where she graduated last week although she will not receive her diploma until June at commencement. Mrs. R. E. Barns spent a recent week-end with her son, Jack Rear don, in Washington. Miss Louise Hayes of Middlesex is back again as assistant at the Zebulon Beauty Shop, which is a gratification to many who like her work. Dr. Royster Chamblee of Raleigh visited his parents, the W| H. Chamblees on Friday of last week. Mesdames J. A. Kemp, J. B. Outlaw. C. V. Whitley, R. H. Her ring, J. D. Horton, and E. C. Dan iels attended the W. M. U. in Ra leigh on Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Needham Pitts went to Oxford on Saturday of last week to visit relatives, re turning on Sunday. Miss Edna Earle Sexton, student at Duke University, has been ini tiated into membership by Zeta Tau Alpha, woman’s national soc ial sorority. Miss Sexton is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Sexton. Mrs. Lena Bunn Freeman with her little daughter was here for the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eten Bunn. Miss Jane Hoyle was home for a while last Saturday. On preced ing week-end she with her bro thers, Frederick, from Wake For est College, and William from State College, were with their mo ther, Mrs. Starkey Hoyle. Mrs. Iscar Strickland of Wilson was here with her son Frederick for the week-end with Mrs. R. R. Creech. Hunter Bell will at an early date move his family to the Dewey Massey place just beyond the edge of town. It is planned for the boys to do some farming after school closes. Friends here are interested in the announcement of the birth of a son, William Franklin, to Mr. and Mrs. How r ard Massey, now liv ing in Franklinton. The newcomer arrived last Saturday with Dr. C. E. Flowers in attendance. Mrs. J. B. Outlaw went to Spring Hope Sunday to attend the luneraJ ol ker niece, Mrs. IW Hunter, Formerly Miss Catherine Baines of Spring Hope. Mrs. Hun ter died of pneumonia following influenza. Ray Pippen, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Pippen, has been quite sick this week with influenza, Dr. Allen Whitaker came by on Monday and took his mother, Mrs. J. B. Outlaw to see the play, Jef ferson Davis.
