Dorothy Calloway, in Good Housekeeping Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Corbett ■went to Raleigh Sunday to see their brother, Otis Corbett, who has been very ill from ruptured appendix. He is now much improv ed, but is still in Rex Hospital. H. A. Strickland of Louisburg, R. 1, was a pleasant caller in the Record Office Monday. Through a mistake his name had been listed as a subscriber on R. 2 and his coming to have th e correction made was appreciated. Mrs. Joe Trippet and infant daughter have returned from a visit to relatives in Rowan County. Miss Cabell Campen was on the J program at the alumnae lunch eon at Greensboro College last week ) taking greetings from the Eastern North Carolina alumnae. Bobby Horton was among the 354 students at Chapel Hill who made the honor roll during the quarter just closed. This means an average of not less than 90 in all studies. Mrs C. V. Whitley received on Monday afternoon a message tell ing of the death of her grandmoth er, Mrs. J. H. Fleming of Boon ville. Mr. and Mrs. Whitley and the children left Tuesday to at tend the funeral, which was held on Tuesday at three p. m. Mrs. Fleming was 88 years old. Visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hales Sunday were Mr and Mrs. W. D. Ellis and family of Nashville, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Williford, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Lee Perry of Bethany and Miss Lillie Eason of Durham. Miss Lillie Eason of Durham has returned to her home after spend ing a few days in the home of F. P. Hales. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Whitlock of Wendell announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Summer, to Mr. Paul Todd of Wendell on March fifth in Nashville. At home in Wendell. Zebulon, R. F. D. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lee and little daughter, Betty, of Kinston, were visitors in the C. V. Whitley home last Sunday. Hospital for pneumonia following rheumatic fever, is improved as to general condition, but has develop ed pleurisy in one side. Sh e also has the mumps. Miss Mary Barrow was home for the weekend and until Wednesday of this week from St. Mary’s School in Raleigh. The election of Mrs. Victoria Gill to the presidency of the P. T. A. of Wakelon places this school in the probably unique position ol having a mother for president and her son for vice-president. Miss Lorraine Bridgers is ex pected home from E. C. T C. to be with her parents, Mayor and Mrs. R. H. Bridges, over the weekend. Ferrel School News Principal and Mrs. B. L. Causey spent the week end with relatives in Four Oaks. Mrs. Willie Smith and little daughter, Glenda Farris, of Bailey, who spent last week with Mrs. Joe Murray, have returned to their home. Mrs. Sam Leeson accompanied her sixth grade to Wilson last Friday night to see “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine”. Preston Brant’ey, son of Mrs- Brantley, a sixth grade pupil, fell from a bicye V last Sunday and broke his leg. He is in Park View Hospital. h riends will be glad to know that Mrs. Floyd Strickland, who has been in Parkview hospital for quite a while, is now at home. She is “Room Mother” for the fourth grade. We wish her a speedy re covery. Julian Cone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rawdie Cone, and a pupil of the third grade was seriously injured while coming in too close contact of a mowing machine. He was rushed immediately to the hospital where h e stayed for s«me time. He is now at home and is doing nicely. His parents wish to thank their many friends for the kindness shown him. The Parent-Teacher Association will hold its regular meeting on Monday night, May 4. Mrs. Opie Brantley, the president, urges all parents to be present, and chair man of the committees to be present with their fin?! reports, in order that she may be able to complete her reports for the year. Tuesday afternoon the Samaria Home Demonstration Club, con ducted by Mrs. Effie V- Gordon, held its regular monthly meeting in the club of the Ferrell School. The attendance was large. Mrs. Graham gave a very instructive talk on “kitchens”. Several of the club members are planning to at tend the “Tri-ennial Association of Country Women of the World”, which meets in Washington D. C. the first week in May. At the close of the meting Mrs. Willie Morgan and Mrs. Sherrod Brantley served a delicious iced grape with waffles. Red Wells News Miss Clemma Lee May of Zebu lon spent the week end at the home of her uncle, C. T. Moody. Mrs. Annie Perry and children, and Mr and Mrs. Clifton Perry of near Louisburg spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bunn. Misses Elsie, Mozelle and Vivian Wiggins and brother Woodrow of Louisburg visited Miss Margar et Bunn Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Webb Morgan of Pilot spent the week end with her niece, Mrs. R. A. Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Dollie Tant spent Sunday with her parents at Sandy Creek. Mrs. William Cheves of Zebulon came Monday afternoon and took her mother, Mrs. G- O. Mullins, and grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Wright, to visit Mrs. Edwin Mit chell of Spring Hope. Mrs. R. A. Perry and Miss Net tie Moody are able to sit up some each day.
