Mr. and Mrs. Leon Pippin of Dunn spent Sunday here with the Claude Pippins. Warren, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Green, is recovering from an attack of colitis. Mrs. Car! Harper and children of Warsaw arrived last week for a visit with Mrs. Harper’s parent* the J. D. FincKes, and other rela tive? here. Miss Grace Southall, operator in the Zebulon eßauty Shop, went to her home in Lousiburg for the weekend. On last Sunday she visit ed her sister, Ruth, who is recover ing from an appendectomy in Rex hospital. Mrs. C. L. Read is this week at tending an institute on Christian Relations at Scarrett College in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Foster Finch went to Spr.ng Hope last week to be pres ent at the celebration of the birth dtv Finch’s mother, Mrs. N. B. Finch. The Record received last week a communication concerning the birthday dinner in honor of Mrs. Bettie Scarborough near Rolesville on September 6th. This included a long list of names, but was unsign ed and so not acceptable forpub lication, nor was there any way to return it for the writer’s signature This is regretted by the editor. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. White spent last Sunday with Mrs. White’s bro ther, Mr. Jones, near Rolesville. Mrs. Donald Stallings had as weekend visitors her sister, Mrs. Bruce Chappell and baby daughter of Raleigh. Mrs. Chappell came out to spend Sunday. Mrs. Julian Horton has been confined to bed by illness this week. Emmett Horton of Knightdale, a brother of Julian Horton, is now with the Temple Grocery and Mar ket. Miss HTTdreth Parker was the guest* of Jeff Crowder and Mr. and Mrs. Williard [Jones in Raleigh last Sunday. Little Mis« Mae Snipes of Burl ington, who is visiting Misses Dorothy and Eunice Phelps, is con fined to her room with diphtheria. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Wea hersby and little son have returned from Tifton, Georgia, where Mr. Weath ersby was on the tobacco market. Her ft i« nds here regret that Miss Creola Eddins of Wakefield, in training at Mary-Elizabeth Hospi tal, is ill with malarial fever. Ralph Mitchell of Wakefield, who has been sick for some time, is now improving. Horace Mullen of Bunn has tak en work at Zebulon Drug Store, replacing George William Honey cutt. lie is a brother of Miss Helen Mullen, bookkeeper for Zebulon Supply Company. Wendell Fair Opens Tuesday The Big East Wake Fair will open their doors for the annual fair Tuesday when all the Kiddies over the County will be the guests of the Fair Assn, of Wendell. Plans this year are bigger and a Hall Mile Mid'”sy will be one of the big Features with the Famous Bant ley Shows on the Pike. The Bant ley Show’ is one of the finest in show business featuring 12 big Shows and 8 rides; all clean and high class and will open all shows ami rides to the kiddies Tuesday for 5 cents from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m. and the Fair has arranged a special program for the kiddies Tuesday. The Local Band will fur nish music on opening day and the Raleigh High School Band will be featured one night during the big fair, as well as a Hill Billy Band and other big attractions. The FREE ACT PROGRAM this year will outdo any thing in the past. 12 acts win be offered each afternoon and night and the Fair is bringing back Si and His Fam ous Mule EBNER as a special add ed Attraction. The other acts are clean and high class. The Exhibits this year will outclass anything ever put on before with a greater Premium List covering Fancy Work, Canned Goods, School, Farm and Garden Club Booths, Farmers’ Displays, Community Exhibits, Bak ing Exhibits, Flow’ers and Live S ock. Special lights will be used and a portable state 18 by 30 feet will stage the free acts, and the other special added attractions. The Bantley show alone uses 100 K W Transformer which will give enough current to light up a town as big as Bailey. The building that will house the Exhibits and the Merchants’ Booths is beautifully decorated with festooning and American flags, and the Big Lib erty Arch with over 300 lights is already in place. Beau’iful displays will be the rule as before. State Judges will do the judging and everyone is asked to bring in dis plays on Monday. The Warehouse will be open Sunday to receive Exhibits and the Rule this year is that all Exhibits MUST be in and entered before 10 A. M. Tuesday, when the Gates will open to the Public and all tne Kiddies from all schools (WHITE and COLORED) will be admitted Free to the Grounds. Mr. Williford is a prosperous young farmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Williford of near Wendell.
