Misses Grimmer and Tillery 1 were badly hurt and were taken to 1 Rex Hospital. Whitley is said to I have suffered a groken wrist and : cuts about the head. Miss W’arner and Watson had only minor injur- I ies. Miss Warner said Whitley’s car | was swerving from side to side on 1 the road are he approached and I that he did ali she could to avoid the collision. Witnesses stated that the Whitley car was driven in an erratic manner. It has been assert- I td that the driver had been drink ing. An investigation is being made to determine the facts. Sunday night, les sthan a mile from the scene of Saturday’s acci dent a large La Salle sedan driven ! by a Pennsylvania resident left the highway in front of Ewb Strick ltnd's service stationand striking . v trickland's parked car, somer sauked over it and ended up wedg , ed between a tree and a telephone ire. Stricklands car was unoccu * pied while the Pennsylvania car ntained the driver and his wife who were rushed to a Releigh hos pital.
