THE ZEBULON RECORD, ZEBULON, NORTH CAROLINA, FRIDAY, APRIL THIRTIETH, 1937. CLUB COLUMN (Continued from Page One) Mrs- Foster Finch introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. James Brodie of Henderson, N. C. who is Coastal I lain Distr ct Director. Mrs. Brodie is a charming speak er and made a most valuable and interesting talk on Out Door Liv ing Rooms. She told the Club how with very little expense and a b t of originali ty the seeming ill arranged garden could be converted into an attrac tive out-door living room. Green lawns and lovely gardens afford ideal spots for rest and con versation. Luncheons in the open suit the tempo of vearm summer days. A br ck or flag terrace with a few simple pieces of furn.ture on it becomes a room where daytime sun and evening cool breezes can be fully enjoyed. Lawn furniture is now to be found in a wide range of prices. Wire, wood, willow, iron and alumi num, make up the fascinating ar ray of new lawn and garden furni ture and it does not lack such prac tical feature as waterproof painted finishes, water repellent fabrics, and ease of moving. If it is in pleasant harmony wit/h the house it is an added feature for attrac tiveness. A roll ng cart simplifies the prob lem of outdoor hospitality- An inexpensive fish pool, bird bath, bird house r even a sand pile is not undesirable. Have your outdoor living Toom easily accessible to your kitchen so that you may have many evening meals out of doors. Some degree of privacy is another desirable fea ture for your outdoor livine room. A hedge, trellis., vine or tree may serve this purpose. The Barrow home made a beau tiful setting for the meeting. The spacious living room w tfh its love ly arrangement of exquisite flow ers, which were grown in the host ess’ own garden, made each mem ber want to know more of flower culture and arrangement. The hostess served strawberry shortcake with iced tea. Mrs. Wedell, sister of Mrs. Eto die, was a welcome visitor. Some folks read the headlines in the papers, some read the papers, and some misread them. —Ex.
