Nothing shall go wrong!” Sunshine set to music Is the sparrow’s song. Miss Etta Bridges, formerly of this community, has leased at Car olina Beach a cottage for the sum mer. The building is not yet ready for occupancy, but will be complet ed by June 1, and will be known as Sea-Ett Cottage. Miss Bridges ex pects to have boarders and roomers during the summer months. Mrs. 1 L. H. Jones is joint proprietress. Cullowhee, May 7 —Laßosa Bunn of Zebulon has been elected to serve on the student senate at Western Carolina Teachers College for the year 1937-1938. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Pippin, Miss Mary Gray Pippin and Harold Pip-: pin visited Ted Pippin at Oak .R dge Academy last Sunday. I Mrs. A. S. Bridges with her chil dren ( Edith and John, spent last, Sunday at her old home, Nelson, near Morrisville. P. P. Pace was taken to Duke Hospital last week and has had two operations for head trouble. He is doing nicely at present and :t is hoped that he may come home by the last of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Early Bridges and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lee Bridges ali of Greensboro, visited their brother A- S. Bridges, here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Massey with Beth and Mary Gordon visited Mrs. Massey’s mother, Mrs. O’Dear in Creedmoor Sunday. Mrs. J. T. Robertson went to Charlotte on Wednesday of last week to visit her daughter, Mrs. Neal Morris. Mrs. Morris returned; with her mother for Sunday here, j Also here for Sunday with their, parents were Mrs. Tom Brough- j ton of Garner. Mrs. Gem Godw.n ; of Coates and Miss Mary Louise | Robertson, whose school work in Harnett county has not yet closed- Friends here are interested in the announcement of the birth of a' daughter to Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Bailey of Wake Mrs. Bai ley formerly was Miss Mary Sue Bridges. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED Mrs. J. A. Williams of Boone has returned home after a visit to her sister, Mrs. A. S. Bridges. On May 2, Mrs. Williams’ birthday, her other sisters*, her brothers and other relatives came in numbers, bringing baskets and a bountiful and delicious picnic dinner was served in the yard of the Bridge 4 home The honoree was presented a beautiful hand-crocheted table cloth. Besides the members of the fam ily connection present, Mrs. Oren Massey and little son, Benjy, were special guests. Mrs. Guy Lee of Smithfield vis ited her parents, the W. H. Little Joellen Gill daughter of the Irby Gills underwent a tonsil operation in Raleigh on Wednes day of this week. She is thought to be progressing nicely toward recov ery. Frank Narron, now with C. P. & L Co. in Siler City, visited his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Narron, Sunday. Floyd Meadowbrook of Dunn was here to see friends Sunday. He is pleasantly remembered as hoving been for a while with Baer’s store. Ted and Ferd Davis were in Richmond. Va., for a short business trip, recently. Mrs. M. S. Alford is much im proved after several weeks of ill ness. Miss Mary El zabeth Campen has returned to her work at Johns- Hopkins hospital after a vacation here at her home. Mrs- Raymond Pippin was host- j ess to the Wednesday Afternoon Club this week. Miss Dorothy Barrow entertain-! ed her bridge club Monday night. \ M ss Ruby Stell was winner of high score. Miss Beth Kemp, bride-elect, was presented a sandwich plate in her selected pattern of glassware. Mesdames Julian Horton, Avon Privette and Philip Whitley of Wendell were invited guesta. Mrs. Eugene Privette was host ess to her bridge club Wednesday afternoon at her home. Mrs. Willa Wiggs Marshburn and children have moved into the P. H. Massey house on Arrendall Ave, which w-as occupied by the J. O. Newells for some time prior to their moving to Franklinton. Parker - Hales Miss Louise Hales, popular op erator at the Zebulon Beauty Shop was married on March 28 to Mr. Adrian Parker of M.ddlesex, the ceremony being performed in Nash ville. Mrs. Parker will cont nue her I work in Zebulon. Mrs- C. B. Eddins, Jr., who has r.ot improved as fast as was hoped i for following a recent operation, | went to Raleigh on Thursday for re-exam nation. Mrs. Foster Finch and Miss Cor nelia Herrings left Thursday to visit friends in Sanford. They will return on Saturday. Miss Jocelyn House came from Meredith College and Ralph House from Campbell College to spend Mother’s Day here with their par ents, the A. R. Houses. Miss Edith and Eunice Outlaw were home for the week end, the former from her work at Enfield, the latter from Meredith College. Visitors in the C. G. Weathers by home for the week end were Mrs. Weathersby’s mother, Mrs. A L. Williams, and sister, Miss Mar tha Anne Williams of Gover, Va. Dr. and Mrs. G S. Barbee, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Finch, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Weathersby were guests of Dr. Barbee’s brother near Weldon on Monday evening at a “rock mud dle”. Others inv.ted were the A V. Medlins, M. B. Chamblees, J. K. Barrows, Stells and Herrings. Mrs. D. M Dizor was called to Rolesville last week because of the death of her brother, W. Oscar Rogers, who was 69 years old. Three brothers and three sisters survive besides the imemdiate family, his wife, two sons and three daughters. Much interet is mnifested here in the announcement of the engage, ment of Miss Mary Elizabeth Kemp to James Edgar Allen of Wilson, formerly of New York. The wed ding date is June 10th. Miss Kemp is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Kemp- Misa Irene Pitts of the Wake Forest high school faculty was her* for the week-end, spending the time in the home of her uncle. W. N Pitts, and with Mrs. Carl Harper Miss Inez Pitts has returned home atfer the closing of Oakboro school, where she t aught the aev enth grade. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitley with Charles and Nancy left on Sunday afternoon for Southern Pines where they visited in the home of Mrs. C. D. Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Whit ley also attended the Rotary con vention at Pinehurst. Mr. and M rs - Irby Gill attended the Rotary Convention in Pinehurst this week Making the trip with them were Mr. and Mr.a Early Brantley of Wendell. Teachers of Wakelon’s faculty have completed their teaching for the year, have marked down all grades made by pupils and have gone to their several homes for vacation. Mr and Mrs. E. C. Daniel at tended the meeting of the State Pharmaceutical Association in Ral eigh this week. Beginn ng on Mon day sessions were held until Wed nesday night. Mr. Daniel was on the program for a talk. Mrs. Hunter Btell and children went to the Sanatorium Sunday to see Mr Bell, Who is making a good recovery there. Worth Kemp went last week to Rex Hospital for treatment. His mother, Mrs. Carrie Kemp, who has not been well for some time, was taken back to Mary Elizabeth Hospital Monday of this week. Dr J. C. Mann had his usual busy day here on last Tuesday, the date of his regular appointment.
