Wakelon Wins 3 And Loses One (Continued from front page) but eight errors wrecked the per formances of Cook Moore and Barnes of Clayton. T. Forbes, Greenville product, went to route for Wakelon. Wakelon clinched victory with four runs in the first inning, on sin gles by Richard Hoyle, William Hoyle, and Lindsey and three er rors. Wakelon added singleton’s in the second and final innings. ANGIER DEFEATED 8-5 Wakelon kept pace with Erwin at the front in the Tobacco State League race by defeating Angier, 8-5 Saturday. It was the Wakelon club’s third win in as many starts- Allen Green yielded nine hits to Angier but pitched shutout ball after the third. Woodrow Lindsey with two hits, paced the winners. A feature blow in the Wakelon victory was a triple by Jack Mitchell with two on. Sat terthwaite was Angier’s top hitter. ERWIN DEFEATS WAKELON The Wakelon ball team met its first defeat at hands of the Erwin Red Birds here Sunday. The game went for an extra inning with Green and Forbes doing the mound duties for Zebulon. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Red Birds«.
