THE ZEBULON RECORD, ZEBULON, NORTH CAROLINA, FRIDAY, AUGUST TWENTIETH, 1937. DEATHS IN MEMORY OF GRAHAM NORRIS BAKER On Sunday afternoon, August 8, little Graham Norris Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy B. Baker was killed in a car wreck near Poplar Springs. He was rushed to the doctor but died before reaching medical attention. God had a place in Heaven, so He called this little one to be at home with Him. He was just 1 year, 4 months, and 20 days old, a rose that budded on earth to bloom in Heaven. But God knows best. He gave and He hath taken away. Graham Norris was laid to rest in the cemetery at Social Plains beneath a mound of beautiful flow ers. May God bless and comfort those who are grieved by his go ing, and may they some day meet him where there will be no pain nor death. A precious one from us it gone, A loving voice is stilled. A place is vacant in our home, That never can be filled. —An Aunt. APPRECIATION EXPRESSED The illness and death of Lucius M. We sometime wonder if the local newspaper is somewhat like a prophet, not without honor save in its own coun try. comedy-drama in WENDELL TONIGHT “Sky High”, the thrilling three act comedy drama, using local tal ent as members of its cast will be presented at the Wendell High School Auditorium Thursday and Friday, August 26 and 27. at 8:'l5. The play is being sponsored by the local order of the Girl Scouts. The proceeds are to be used to start a fund for a cabin. A very able cast has been select ed and the director, Miss Mary El len Eichelberger, feels that it will be one of her best productions. The members of the cast have been working each evening to make “Sky High” a super show. In addition to the play proper there are many dance choruses and featured numbers. There will be music and dancing specialties be tween acts. SEEN AND HEARD YOU DON’T KNOW IT We have been wondering how it feels to be struck by lightning, so it was very interesting to hear Mr. Wrenn down in Murraytown tell of how he felt when he was struck last year. He was painting his house, which had been newly covered with a metal roof, and had just started to climb down from his platform when the bolt came and knocked him some distance, tearing his ear so badly that nine stitches were required to hold it in place and otherwise bruising him. The same bolt hit a small son of Mr. Whenn’s, blistering his shoulder and he was thrown to the ground. Mrs. Wrenn thought both were dead when she found them lying in the yard. An oak tree was also damaged but, like the human vic tims, is still living. Mr. Wrenn said he did not know that he had been hit; that he did not see the lightning, hut did hear what sound ed like shattering an immense plate glass window on a pavement. We have read that if one sees lightning he need not fear it; that when it strikes one never knows it. The experience related seems to bear out the statement quoted. LARGEST CCC ENROLLMENT T. L.
