Legionnaires In
N. Y. Convention
I
The American Legion this week
held its annual convention in New
York City with several hundred,
thousand in attendance. As usual |
the legionnaires mixed serious dis
cussion with fun-making. Call was
made upon the men, now middle
aged, who answered the call to
arms in 1917, to heed the call for
equally heroic work now to save the
principles of democratic govern
ment.
Also steps were taken to halt the
trend toward discrimination
against men over 40 years old in
giving jobs. It was charged that
both government and industry were
guilty of this pratcice.
