A. Armstrong is now employ ed at City Market. The Armstrongs and their baby daughter have an apartment in the home of Mrs. Willa Marshburn on Arrendell St. Miss Martha Bailey Flowers left on Sunday for Charlotte where she will take a course at a business col lege. E. L. Renfrow of Raleigh is now with the Zebulon Drug Store. By regrettable error the names of Mr. and Mrs. Crudup Mitchell of Durham were omitted from the list of guests at Mrs. C. E. Flowers’ dinner party last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cooke of York, Pa., were guests in the C. E. Flowers home on Tuesday night of this week, leaving on Wednesday p. m. for their old home in Page land, S. C. They expect to return to Zebulon Friday and will also visit their son, Ernest Cooke, Jr., at Wake Forest College before going back to Pa. Miss Mary Elizabeth Campen ar rived home on Tuesday after grad uation at Johns-Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She will rest for a few weeks before taking the State Board examinations. MRS. GILL HOSTESS Mrs. Irby Gill entertained her bridge club on Wednesday after noon of this week. Miss Biddy Cam pen was a special guest and was presented a gift. Mrs. F. D. Finch won high score prize for club mem bers. Elmo Bunn and Sprite Barbee are at Wake Forest College, the former for his senior year’s work; the latter as a transfer student from U. N. C. at Chapel Hill. R. K. Horton has returned to Chapel Hill, where he is a member # tof the senior class at the Universi ty. Mr.s Alvin Bridges attended the county council of the P. T. A. in Raleigh Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Simpson and children, Letha Mae, “Buster,” and Betsy Pope with both grand-moth ers. Mrs. Kate M. Simpson and Mrs. M. D. Terry spent the week end in Asheville visiting and sight seeing. Going through the great Smoky Mountains and national Parks and other places of interest. Miss Anne Kemp has gone to Lawrenceville, Va., to resume the position in the city schools which she held last year. Barbee home. Mr. Walker is with the Page Supply Co. Mr. and Mrs. Brummitt and dau ghter of Oxford, spent the week end here in the home of their rel atives, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Pitts. The Women’s Class of the Meth odist Sunday School had members of Wakelon’s faculty as guests at supper on the lawn of the A. A. Pippin home at Wakefield on Tues day evening. MR. AND MRS. SPENCER ENTERTAIN Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Spencer en tertained at their home on Gannon Ave. Saturday evening. Sept. 18 with a dinner party. The home was thrown ensuite for the occasion and was lovely with softly shaded lights and fall flow ers. Guests found their places at a beautifully appointed table, lighted with pink candles in modernistic holders and having a centerpiece of pink rosebuds and fever few. When dinner was over tallies were passed and bridge was enjoy ed. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer had as their guests—Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Bryan, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Carroll, Mrs. Lillian Crowell of Oxford, Mrs. J. E. Peterson, Kinston and Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Massey, Zebu lon. birthday party A. V. Medlin, Jr., was seven years old on Thursday afternoon of last week and celebrated with a party on the lawn of his home, where games were played. Assemb ’ ling in the living room guests ad mired the gifts, after which they were served cake and ice cream in the dinitig room. Block ice cream, cake and nuts were served at each party. BARBECUE AT PEARCES From 4:00 till 8:00 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, Oct. 3, mem bers of Pearce church will serve a barbecue supper at the church. Fried chicken and other good things to eat will also be offered for sale. Proceeds will go to the fund for rebuilding the church, which was badly damaged by a storm some months ago.
