The nine-year-old daughter of the F. M. Stewarts has been kept in bed for some days with a septic sore throat. She is better at this time. » Chief-of-Police Cone has bought the house which was a part of the Burtis Cone estate and is having some remodelling and repairing done which will add much to its appearance and comfort. i Willard Denton, who has for the past two weeks been home from Washington, D. C., has returned to his work there. He was accompani ed by his brother, Staley Denton, who spent a few days in the Capi tal, to return early next week. A visitor in the home of the R. H. Herrings the first part of the week was Mr. Herring’s step-daugh ter, Mrs. Long, from near Ashe ville. Mrs. Long came here from Chapel Hill where her daughter and son are students in the University, and also visited Dr. Edward Her ring in Raleigh. Miss Doris Thomas of Gladys, Va., who was the weekend guest of her cousin, Mrs. J. M. Potter, in Raleigh, came to Zebluon with the Potters on Sunday to spend a few hours in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Theo. Davis. 0 After spending several weeks here with her parents, the S. J. Ferebees, Mrs. Garland Godwin left on Thursday for her home in Easton, Md. Avon Privette is remodelling and •repairing the building formerly known as the Land home. When completed it will contain three . apartments with many, convenien ces. Work is progressing well on the brick-veneered cottage being built on Arendall Street by the Eugene Privettes. This will be one of the most attractive homes in Zebulon. Mrs. Norman Screws has gone to be with her mother? Mrs. Monk, • of Goldsboro, who is critically ill. Mrs. Monk has been an invalid for years. McGuire tnd F. D. Finch attended the meet ing of the federated clubs of the eighth district at Chapel Hill on ■Tuesday. Mrs. E. R. Anderson of liVendell presided over the sessions. ■ J. Gattis Bailey of near Zebulon won first prize at the State Fair lor guessing nearest the exact weight of a bag of nitrate of soda. It weighed 2496 lbs. and 4 ounces, end he guessed 2496 lbs. and 3 lounces. The prize was 400 pounds lof nitrate of soda. J. W. Chamblee of Richmond and D. P. Chamblee of Waverly, Va. are spending several days with their parents, the W. H. Chamblees. Also in the Chamblee home last Sunday were their daughters, Mrs. Guy Lee of Smithfield, Mrs. J. G. Terry of Raleigh and Mrs. Conyers of Rocky Mount, with their fami lies. Their many friends here regret the moving to Wendell of the Wil lard Whites, who will occupy their house in the neighbor town already the home of Mrs. L. M. Jones, Mrs. White’s mother. Mrs. Jones will live with the Whites. Hilliard Green expects to leave soon for Philadelphia where he will work in a steel plant. Even should he decide to remain in the city, Mrs. Green and the children will stay South for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Jones and children, Kirby and Parker, have come to Zebulon to live and are at present making their home with Mrs. Jones’ mother, Mrs. Zollie Cul peper. Mr. Jones plans to establish here a plant for the making and marketing of scrapple. Lees Chapel Items Mr. C. L. Driver spent the week end with Pettigrew Price. Miss Olive Hawkins Hales is ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Price spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hales. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Faucett mo tored to Raleigh Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Onnie Driver and family went shopping at Raleigh Saturday morning. Miss Joyce Hinnant of Zebulon is visiting Mrs. W. W. Hales. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Price and two daughters, Dorothy Helen and Evelyn Ann were the week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Hunt. Mr. John Faucett has returned to his home for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Faucett. The Lee’s Chapel Baptist church is holding prayer service every Sunday night. We invite you all to come out and join us. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt were visitors at Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Hunt’s Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Price spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Johnson of Middlesex. Middlesex Doings Mr. Bill Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Williams is recov ering from a fractured jaw. Mr. and Mrs. Otha Johnson and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Bryant of Rocky Cross. T. A. Lewis died Friday morn ing at his home in Middlesex. Sur viving are his wife, three children Mrs. J. P. Davis, Wilson; Cecil Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Harris of Bailey spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Johnson of Middlesex. Mr. and Mrs. William’s daughter, Jack Williams, was rushed to the hospital with a broken arm late Sunday. Mrs. O. D. Lewis and daughter, Helen Jean, visited her parents on Sunday. Mr. Ivan and Randolph Johnson and Grady Price motored to Ral eigh Sunday on a pleasure trip. Parents’ Day At Citadel Following a custom of several years' standing, the annual Parents’ Day program will be carried out at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, on Saturday, No vember 20. All classes will be suspended dur ing the day. The forenoon will be allotted to registration, inspection of cadet quarters and departmental exhibits, with a review of the cadet regiment at noon, followed by lun cheon and a footaball game between Citadel and Erskine College in the afternoon. At a dance that night, parents and friends will be the guests of the cadet corps. Parents this year will have an op portunity to see in operation addi tional facilities recently completed at a cost of more than $600,000.00.
