Report of Garden Club
The Clara Paschal Garden Glub,
organization of local colored wo
men, has already made a fine be
ginning on their project, which is
the beautification of their school
grounds| Shrubbery and ivy have
been planted. Since the first
meeting on Jan. 24, the club has
met twice. Once at the home of
the president, Mrs. Margie Ellis,
■where a program committee was
appointed—Mrs. Iver Carpenter,
Mrs. Addie Hall, Mrs. Etta High.
At this meeting the boys’ vocation
al instructor, J. T. Locke, was
present and promised his hearty
support for the club. Miss E. G.
Smith, home economics teacher,
also joined the club and promised
willingly to help with the work.
Delightful refreshments were
served.
The next meeting was held at
the school building. After a devo
tional service Mrs. Iver Carpen
ter recited a poem, ‘Trees.” J. T.
Locke gave a blackboard demon-

Girls’ Reserve Supper
Members of the Girls’ Reserve
at the Wakefield-Zebulon School
will be hostesses at a Mother-
Daughter banquet at the school
on March 10, at eight o’clock in
the evening. This is the first oc
casion of its kind for them and it
