The pastor will be assisted in the meetings by Dr. J. C. Owen of Newlands, N. C. Dr. Owens is an evangelist of wide and successful ministry. For 12 years he was missionary to China of the Southern Baptist Convention. For 8 years he was evangelist among the mountain schools of the South. He is a preacher of great power and deep consecration. This week he is in a meeting at the Baptist church in Kenly. The services at Union Hope Monday will be at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon and at that hour each day during the week and also at 8:00 o’clock at night. Suede, kid, and patent leathers are all in use and many are in such colors as wine, golden brown, marine blue, and chestnut. Men’s shoes are heavier, with either round or square toes. In fact, shoe styles for men seldom vary much. In making jelly best results are usually obtained by using only three cupfuls of sugar to four cup fuls of fruit juice.
