CONGRESSMAN COOLEY
CALLS
Congressman Harold D. Cooley
of Nashville was a social caller at
the Record office Tuesday. He
was on his way to Raleigh, In
striped pants, white shirt and
straw hat Mr. Cooley looked cool
er than the weather felt. He said
he had just returned from the Ber
mudas with the Bankers Associa
tion. We asked him why he was
not in Washington. He replied
that he spent last summer there
and did not care to spend this one
there unless it was necessary.
We understand that our Con
gressman is a probable candidate
for Governor in 1940. Whether he
is or not, we believe he would
make a good governor and as a
candidate he would be hard to
beat.
