Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Eddins of Wendell and Mr. I. B. Richardson j of Zebulon were visitors at Mr. H. G. Hood’s Sunday. Mr and Mrs. 0. W. Thorne and Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Puryear spent a while Monday afternoon with Mrs. R. L. Jones of Millbrook. Mr. Miley Whitaker and Charlie Jr. Scarboro of the Navy are home for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Rhupert Denton of Fowlers Cross Roads were visitors at Mr. David Denton’s Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Starnes. Mr. and Mrs. Worth Horton, Mr. and Mrs. C. R Denton, Misses Nor ma Liles and Shirley Starnes went to White Lake last week Harvey Hood also went to White Lake. Some of the farmers sold tobac co in Lumberton last week. Mrs. L. H. Williford of Bethany and little son, Lennie Edward, spent Thursday night with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Puryear. CORINTH Attendance at our regular preaching services Saturday and Sunday were not as good as usual. We would like very much to see the house full. Everyone is wel come at all times. The revival meeting will begin at 8:00 o’clock Sunday, September 4th and there will be services twice daily throughout that week—after noon and at 8:00 each evening. We are indeed fortunate in having se cured Rev. Albert Sims, pastor of the Wendell Baptist Church, to do the preaching for us and we are hoping the attendance will be good. Wednesday morning, August 31, has been set as the date to gather at the church and clean up the cemetery and church grounds. Ev eryone desiring to help will please be there that day. Davis home a while Friday night. Mr. Andrew Johnson and family visited Mrs. Johnson’s relatives in Philadelphia, Pa., last week. The Young Women’s and Young Men’s Sunday School classes went to Holt’s Lake on a picnic, start ing from the church at 4:30 Satur day evening. All enjoyed the pic nic and swimming. Mr. J. R. Mur phy’s car happened to an accident on the return trip. A car ran into him, damaging the car a little, but not hurting anybody. Everyone reported a nice time, however. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Greene of Raleigh visited Mr. D. M. Greene and family Sunday. PILOT Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Alford spent the week end with Mrs. O. D. Stal lings. Mrs. Oris Pearce of Pearces spent a few days with Mrs. B. B. Brantley recently. Mr. Kenneth Cone, Davis Bell, Orbie Mullins, Berkley Upchurch and Junior Carlyle went to White Lake Friday afternoon and return ed Sunday. The girls that went to White Lake last week returned Sunday and one of the chaperones fell in the sand and left some of his skin there. Miss Louise Weaver, Franklin County’s Home Demonstration Agent, visited Mrs. J. M. Stallings Friday afternoon. Pilot school will open September 1, 1938. Mr. H. E. Stallings is sick. Miss Wilma Phillips has return ed from Manteo where she saw The Lost Colony. Mis. N. D. Green died early Sat urday morning. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Pilot Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. Ford A. Burns and Rev. A. A. Pippin. Burial was at the family cemetery. SPORTS Wednesday afternoon we were defeated by Archer Lodge, 5-10 at Archer Lodge. Saturday we defeated Archer Lodge, 15-6, at Pilot. One of our ball players, Mr. Pig gy Smith, has gone home. There were many tears shed when he left by both young and old. WAKE X ROADS The people of this community are in deepest sympathy for our pastor in the loss of his father, Mr. Henry Poole, who died on Monday, Aug. 2. The funeral ser vice was held August 23 at Knightdale church. Mrs. Edwin Perry seems to be almost well again. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cooke and family of Neuse spent Sunday at the home of their son, Mr. Walter Cooke. Mr. David Liles spent the week end at the home of his uncle, Mr. Johnnie Taylor of Wake Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Massey and family spent Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holden’s. Mrs. Horace Poole and family visited Mrs. Arthur McDade Sun day. She has been ill in Mary Elizabeth hospital for some time, but is able to return home now. The family of Mr. Horace Poole, Mr. Serenic Blackley and Mr. Ru fus Poole enjoyed a fine barn sup per Saturday night at Horace Poole’s home. The supper consist ed of Brunswick stew, fish, barbe cued chicken, bread and iced tea. There were 18 present and every one had a fine time.
