This offers parents of cadets an opportunity to visit the institution at a time when activities are in full opera tion or can be inspected without loss of efficiency. The occasion is informal to give parents the maximum opportunity to be with their sons, but formal I enough to permit all to see a I little of each phase of the cadet’s life. Charles Flowers is a cadet offi cer at the Citadel. SPY TING INVESTIGATED Deep and widespread interest is being shown in the investigations of a German Spy Ring in the Unit- j ed States. Arrests have included j a deserter from the U. S. Army, a beauty operator on a German liner, a mechanic at an aircraft factory, a private in the eastern air forces at Ixrng Island. Proof is said to be forthcoming that ail these have been in the paid service of Ger many and against the United States. They are charged with thefts of defense secrets, of speci fications for aircraft carriers, of plans for a new periscope, and of confidential information concern ing army forces on the Atlantic seaboard. Profits From Beans T. A. Bateman of the Kyle sec tion, Cherokee county, reports a net profit of $91.08 from cight tenths of an acre of snap bean '. He produced and sold 190 bushels at 67 cents a bushel for a gross in come of SI 27.80. His expenses were $36.22.
