FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1938 COMMUNITY CORRESPONDENCE PILOT Our church people were made happy Sunday by the return of pastor, Rev.. Ford A. Burns. No he did not preach; he was not able, but just the same to be with us again caused much rejoicing. The W. M. U. met Saturday night at the church. Mr. Joe Ballentine of Middlesex was a visitor at church Sunday. Miss Meryl Lewis, 'who has been sick, is improving. Miss Repsie Barham of Raleigh visited Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Stall ings during the week end. Miss Bennett ,one of our former school teachers, was here Sunday. Mr. W. J. Martin has returned from Duke Hospital and seems to be doing well. Miss Gladys Mason, of Wash ington, D. C. is visiting Mr. and Mrs. 0. D. Stallings. The P. T. A. met at the School building Tuesday night at 7:30. Mr. Russel Bunn of Goldsboro visited his friends and mother Sunday. The Melody Boys will give a con cert at the Pilot School Auditorium Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. Everybody is cordially invited to come and en joy it. Mrs. David Denton spent Thurs day with her mother, Mrs. Richard Medlin, near Pearces. Some families have had plenty of green peas and butter beans, but Jack Frost made a visit Mon day night and warned them they wouldn’t get many more. Many farmers are through sell ing tobacco and are now harvest ing corn. Mr. Armstead Henderson of New York is visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Frazier are moving to Halifax bounty this week. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jones of Knightdale spent Sunday after noon with his mother, Mrs. H. H. U. met last Wednes day p.m. with Mrs. J. C. Massey, the president. There was a large number present and a fine pro gram was enjoyed. The December meeting will be at Mrs. W. I. Lamm’s Dec. 14.. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Watkins and family Sunday were, Mr. and Mrs. S.. B. Blackley and family; Ruby and Katherleen Wat kins; Mr. and Mrs. Graham Davis and family of Durham; and Mr. C. C. Massey and son. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Poole an nounce the birth of a daughter, Phyllis Ann, on Nov. 7. Mrs. Poole was formerly Miss Lorene Jones. Mother and daughter are doing finely. On Wednesday evening, Nov. 2, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Young were honored at a household shower at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ed win Perry. There were 38 present. Bingo and other games were en joyed after which cakes and salted nuts and punch were served. Everyone enjoyed the fine party at Misses Ruby and Flora Shearin’s home Saturday night. Games were enjoyed by all after which cakes and drinks were served.
