OUR COUNTRY (These lines were written by John Werford one hundred years ago; but may well be the prayer of our nation at this time.) Lord, while for all mankind we pray, Os every clime and coast, 0 hear us for our native land, The land we love the most. O guard our shores from every foe, With peace our borders bless; With prosperous times our cities crown, Our fields with plenteousness. Unite us in thy sacred love Os knowledge, truth, and thee; And let our hills and valleys shout The songs of liberty. BEERY, ROONEY TO APPEAR AT WAKELON Wallace Beery and Mickey Roo ney, both veerans of the screen, are teamed for the first time in “Stablemates,” thrilling drama of the race track. The story unfolding the friend ship which exists between a once famous veterinary and a stable boy, has the flavor of “The Champ,” memorable picture which starred Beery with Jackie Cooper. Wallace Beery safely piloted his plane to New York, has raced mo torboats at Balboa and driven rac ing cars at the old Ascot track, but he wrecked the set on Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer’s “Stablemates,” in which he is starred with Mickey Rooney, because he couldn’t driye an old car. The sequence called for Beery to drive Mickey around in a 1926 Model T. flivver. He tried three times and each Time killed the motor. Finally, a transportation driver gave him some instructions and he started off. But he made one mistake; he used the reverse instead of low. The result: One badly damaged set and two frightened actors! Liucky Love Prescription issued by Young Dr. Kildare.
