FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 1938 THIS WEEK’S ADVERTISERS SUPPLY STORE SALE The furniture sale at Zebulon Supply Store is keeping many workers busy and is adding much to the comfort and convenience of those who buy at the special prices that prevail for twenty days only from the date, Dec. 7. Very pleasing to the editor was the remark made by Raleigh Al ford of the Zebulon Supply Co. force when the associate editor of the RECORD commented upon the fact that two trucks were being loaded with furniture at one time. “Yes,” he said, “we are really hav ing a sale; and advertising put it across.” This paper helped adver tise the sale and thus feels a sort of proprietary interest in its prog ress. KANNAN’S CAFE The only case for some time in Zebulon was Kannan’s. Only yes terday a stranger was asked where he could get the best dinner, and was told ‘‘go to Kannan’s”. Bark er always has a smile for his customers and a good meal be hind it. He also runs a case in Wendell. If you gfet hungry dur ing the Christmas, see Kannan. THE PEOPLES BANK AND TRUST CO. The local bank is a branch of one of the largest and safest banking institutions in this sec tion. It is the successor of three other banks. Each year it proves its claim to the support of this community by its service and in creased business. It has the con fidence of the business people of this community. Messrs. Brown and Massey are in charge and wel come the citizen whether he has a deposit to make or a loan to ne gotiate. Their motto might well be service, security, satisfaction. J. A. KEMP AND SON This old standby of the farmers especially is the oldest business of its kind in Zebulon. After do ing business in Wakefield for many years, this mercantile estab lishment came to Zebulon. Kemps are conservative, courteous, and consistent in all their dealing with the public. What Kemps tell you, you may rely on it. They carry almost everything for the home or farm—dry goods, groceries, farm equipment and feeds. They carry the famous Melrose flour, one of the best for cakes and pies. STEDMAN STORES CO. This is the second so-called chain store to locate in Zebulon. It has been here so long that one almost forgets that it is not an old busi ness. Buying as they do for a large number of stores in Eastern Caro lina, they are able to sell very reasonably. Bob Sawyer is in charge of the local store and everybody likes Bob. He is special izing on Christmas confectionaries 'ELECTRICAL i frfTTC AOt Someone YOU Know Wants ECONOMICAL this electrical gift; TO BUY sight-saving ,—^r AND USE iV 1 E ' s ' LAMPS^y (V*J 3> M I Necessary to comfortable j seeing. After looking • over the business situation he re marked, “Zebulon needs a good dry goods store”. Not long after he rented the old theatre building, 1 had it renovated and remodelled and moved in with a brand new stock of dry goods—suits, shoes, dresses, coats, notions—in fact, as he said, “a good dry goods store”. His motto was,.“We will not be undersold, knowingly.” He has overbought for the Christmas trade and is offering his goods at a sac rifice to the public. Read his full nage ad. in this paper, then see Stanley Shorr for your Christmas needs. A. G. KEMP A. G. Kemp’s store has been doing business almost since the first day of Zebulon’s history and it continues to supply almost everything the average person or home needs. They specialize on Westinghouse ranges and refrigerators and standard radios. They give expert service to anything electric. Christmas decorations may be purchased of Perry and Benton. MASSEY LUMBER COMPANY One of the best equipped lumber plants in eastern Carolina is Mas sey’s. They have a lumber yard where almost any piece or load of lumber may be found. Massey is manager, assisted by his brother Riggsby and nephews, be sides a number of expert carpen ters and machinists. Their motto is “Everything to Build Anything”. JOHNSON THE JEWELER This is Zebulon’s only jewelry store. Mr. Johnson, the proprietor, is a young man who knows the jewelry business thoroughly.
