PAGE SIX This, That, & The Other (Continued From Front Page) that I fear to use it much. So many of my friends ■will not have gaiety and fun this December 25th. And it is of them I am thinking most. For them I wish widely different things, hard to express in words. It is not material gifts I desire for them, but that Christmas might bring an answer to their most desperate spiritual need; surcease, if only for a while from the pain, disappointment, sorrow, or bitter ness that life has brought; lift ing, if only for an instaint, of the clouds in their skies; knowledge, however imperfect, of the peace that the Christ - child came to bring. And for you who may fittingly be wished a very merry Christmas, I am wishing it with all my heart. Our hearts overflow with love for each other, We want to help and comfort our needy brother. Our souls are gladdened by the radiant smile, Os some waiting, anxious, eager child. • We recall the story of our Sav iour’s birth, And of the angel’s songs of “Peace on Earth.” Os the shepherds led by the guiding star, And the wise-men’s journey from afar, This old-new story we love to re tell, Its peace in our hearts Will for ever dwell. The Christmas decorations make a beautiful show, We are glad to help those who are feeling low. Their tear-dimmed eyes and thank ful expression, Immediately show us their ap preciation. We want our good deeds and spreading of cheer, To make somebody’s Christmas happy this year. —Ercelle Littleton ChlUstmas We celebrate Christmas because it is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. This holiday should be celebrated peacefully, but happily. This is the time we all look for ward as giving gifts, and making people happy. The children al ways look forward to having a Christmas tree, and best of all looking for Santa Claus to bring them toys. Everybody looks as being home on this day with all the family. This is a special holi day of the year when we should all be happy. —Mazie Horton A week ago last Monday night our siren notified us of a fire within the vicinity. W e found it was a small house behind our ho tel where three of our local boys lived. The same situation as it might have happened 2,000 years acres, more or lest, the same be ing a portion of the estate of S. Brantley, deceased. After taking out the deductions, as above described, the two tracts of land herein conveyed contain about 58 acres; and being the same lands described in a deed from A. R. House, Commissioner, as recorded in Book 541, page 359, Wake County Registry, to C. V. Whitley; and as described in a quitclaim deed from H. W. Whit ley and wife and R. J.. Whitley to C. V. THE ZEBULON RECORD ago in Rome is related below. The resemblance to anyone living today is purely coincidental. Huge Fire In Rome Last Night Local Boy Hero— Saves Idol Dwelling of three well-known bachelors completely demol ished by fire Rome—At 9:30 last night the entire population was startled by a raging fire which was seen for miles around. From temples and homes poured forth throngs of pepoie to witness the spectacle. The structure which Snoodlebut ton Sawyer, Doodlebug Narron, and Hammerhead Kenedy, three local bachelors, chose to call home, was in flames by the time the good women of the community arrived on the scene with pitchers of water —alas, ’twas all in vain. Flames furiously flew, and smoke sullen ly soared. The crowd stood hero ically back, waiting for somoeone to enter the blazing inferno. No one moved. Then suddenly from the mass there was seen a small and gallant figure which bravely strode toward tVv turning build ing. The crowu gasped. It was none other than Picklepuss An tone. Straight through a window a trifle undignified, may it be add ed, went this noble hero head first. Priest Struggle-buggy, in his excitement, shouted and fell over his long robe. Two long min utes passed. The hero of the night appeared once more, through the window, head first, undignified as before. In his arms he fondly clasped a statue of the goddess Vesta, and in his hands a pair of Roman sandals. A mighty cheer rent the night air, and shook the burning building down. Picklepuss will be crowned with a laurel wreath by Priest Struggle-buggy —maybej When last seen Priest Struggle-buggy was running agile ly down the hill with his flowing coat-tail on fire. —Virginia Bridgers Remember —if you are behind on your subscription to the Record—if not paid by Jan. 1, it may stop.
