It is extremely prevalent at present in this section, and is contagious. Several cases have recently been communicated from one person to others, and the rem edy is hard to find. Those having it are pos sessed of a horror of tuberculosis and a dread of contracting it; but have entirely wrong ideas about prevention and cure. Its sufferings are unnecessary, but hard to remedy. The best cure and the only cure for phthisiophobia is educa tion as to proper procedure in tu bercular cases; plus a realization that tuberculosis is not a disease to inspire morbid fear and melan cholia.
