Wakelon Schools holds no classes today because of the State Educational Association’s meeting which the teachers wish to attend, and for which provision is made by allowing them the holiday from schoolroom work. Charles Hinton arrived at home last Friday from a Baltimore hospital where he recently under went an appendectomy. He will be here until fully recovered be-i fore returning to Hjis work inj Towson, Md. Mrs. C. G. Weathersby was kept in by illness during the first part of this week. j J. E. Carter, who has been sick for a week, is once more able to be out a part of the time. Miss Catrina Gill was at home from Tarboro for the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Victoria Gill. Dr. andi Mrs. C. E. Flowers visited their son, Cadet Charles Flowers, at the Citadel, Charles ton, S. C., last week. Miss Dorothy Winstead of Ral eigh spent Monday night here with her sister Mrs. Allan Pip pin. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Daniel went last Sunday to a family reunion at the home of Mr. Daniels’ fath er, J. M. Daniel of Moncure. Dr. and Mrs. Julius Sader have moved to Bailey from Red Oak, where they will make their future home. Dr. Sader will practice medicine in Bailey. His office is located in the Etheridge Drug store building. MISS JONES HONOR GUEST AT PARTIES Mesdames B. F. Ivey and R. V. Brown complimented Miss Dorothy Jones with a bridge party on last Friday evening in the home of Mrs. Ivey. Yellow and White chrysanthemums were used in decorations. Mrs. L. H. Massey won bath powder as high score prize; Mrs. Russel Temple being awarded linen handkerchiefs for low score. To Miss Jones, bride-elect went a special gift of two bread and but ter plates in her chosen pattern of china. THOMPSON Among the loveliest of autum nal social events hede wa,s on Saturday evening when Mrs. Leon Thompson entertained at her home honoring Miss Dorothy Jones, bride-elect of this month. Eight tables were appointed in the bridal motif and placed in a setting of white chrysanthemums and fall flowers carrying out the colors of white and green. After a number of progressions Miss Ena Dell Anderson received high score, Mrs. Charles E. Flow ers second high and Miss Mar ian Whitlock low. The honoree was presented with gold salt and pepper shak ers. In a setting of white chrysan themums illuminated by soft candlelight, the hostess assisted by Mesdames G. R. Massey and L. H. MOSER (By JUANITA FERRELL) Members of the T'v f'v class met at the Baptist church Mon day evening at six o’clock. We were on the porch and singing “Happy Birthday To You” a few minutes later in Mr, Moser’s home. Mr. Moser was very much surprised to open the door and see the class so happy and gay. Bobby Alford, our president, presented the gift with a speech. He received a billfold and ring key set. The cake was brought in. It was a beauty, trimmed with red and white roses. On the top was written “Happy Birthday Mr. Moser.”. The cake was cut and each one served. Everyone left with a smile. THE ZEBULON RECORD Miss Doris Eddins is recovering from an attack of Pleurisy ,and is now able to sit up a part of the time. Mrs. Wayland Hood was in the Record office Thursday to sub scribe for the paper for her son’s wife, Mrs. Aubrey Hood of Mor risville. C. I. Robinson of Garlandl, clerk of the Eastern Association, was in Zebulon Thursday on business connected with the print ing of the minutes of his associa- 1 tion. MISSES RICHARDSON ENTERTAIN FOR BRIDAL COPLE On last Saturday night, Misses Anne and Caroline Richardson en tertained at a Hallowe’en party at their country home “Rosedale j Manor” near Wendell, honoring j Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jones of 1 Raleigh, who were married earlier in the fall. Mrs. Jones was for merly Miss Elma Joyner of Rox boro, and was a roommate of Caroline Richardson in college. The home was attractively dec-1 orated with lovely fall flowers I and Hallowe’en decorations were arranged throughout the front of the house. In the dining room and sun porch Hallowe’en pump kins and balloons were seen. The j dining room table was arrangedj with a lovely Irish linen cloth and | centerpiece of fall flowers with candles at the ends of the table. Music was furnished during the evening by Misses Margaret Lew is and Susie Hester at the piano and singing by Joe Richardson. Dancing was enjoyed. Refreshments Were served by the hostesses, assisted by Miss Jane Blalock and Margaret Lu-1 kas of Wake Forest. Fruit punch was served from an appointed table with mixed sandwiches, ritz crackers with cream cheese and l peanuts. Contests stunts and games were enjoyed and souve nirs were given the guests. Present were: Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jones, Major Jones, Mayo Bailey, Crayton Williams and Virginia Sumner of Raleigh; Fred Hoyle of Zebulon, Miss Jane Bla lock, Miss Margaret Lukas and Dr. Harrell of Wake Forest, Miss es Margaret Lewis, Frances Hen derson, Sulou Williamson, Susie Hester, Elaine Robertson; Joe Richardson, Dwight Mattox, Ken neth Herndon and Lonnie Knott of Wendell and Russell Griffin of Knightdale. PARTIES HONOR MISS JONES Miss Dorothy Jones, bride-elect, was honored at two parties this week, the first being given on Tuesday evening by Mrs. Frank Kemp who entertained with bridge. The tables were placed in a setting made more attractive by massed chrysanthemums in yel low and white. Present were Misses Dorothy Jones, Ruby Dawson, Marie Wat son, Hazel Carowan, Marion Whitlock; Mesdames Charles Flowers, Norman Screws, H. C. Wade, B. F. Ivey, A. V. Medlin, C. V. Whitley, James Allen, Jul ian Horton, R. V. Brown, Rus sel Temple, Graham Conn. Miss Jones was given a pickle fork in her pattern of silver. Playing resulted in high score prize, a permanent, going to Mrs. A. V. Medlin, and low score, a facial and finger-wave, going to Mrs. B. F. Ivey. Refreshments of congealed salad, pink and green sandwiches, olive roses, ritz, and coffee were served. Mrs. L. H. Jones came in for refreshments. Mrs. J. G. Kemp and daughter, Mrs. James Allen of Waynes ville were hostesses in the Kemp home on Wednesday evening, complimentary to Miss Jones, the occasion being a cake-cutting.
