Miss Viola Hopkins, student at Campbell college, has been elected one of the house presidents for next year at this school. Miss Gertrude Carter who came home recently after graduating at ' WCTC, Cuiiowhee, was voted by her class the girl most likely to succeed. * Stella Mane Bunn, daughter of Mrs. W. R. Bunn of Route 3, who has been ill for some time, has been taken to Rex Hospital for an operation. Capt. Mercer Jordan of Rac ford, with Mrs. Jordan and their lutie daughter, Helen, came to Zebulon Sunday afternoon to see the Theo. Davis family. Miss Agnes Lee of Baltimore spent the week end at her home on Route 2, Zecbulon. She is em ployed in Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, Townson, Md. The Kermit Corbett home is be ing remodeled with two rooms be ing added, which will place it a mong the most convenient and at tractive of Zebulon’s residences. Friends here are interested in the announcement of the engage ment of Miss Margaret Hilburn of Bladenboro to A. C. Dawson, Jr The marriage wall take place in thi summer. Mrs. S. M. Harris of Clinton and daughters, Misses Mishew Ann and Betsy, with Mrs. Sam Finch visited Mrs. Pattie Harris Sunday. Mrs. W. O Williams visited her dughter, Mrs. James Pulley, last week end.. With her came two oi her grandchildren, Lavane and Trullia. Wallace Temple, who has for some time been kept at home by illness, is back at his place of bus iness, at present a sitting position in Temple Market. Mrs. L. R. Temple is progress ing toward recovery following a serious operation in a Raleigh hos pita 1, but will not be able to come home for some time yet. Small Bennie Utley is spending some time here with his aunt, Mrs. Allan Pippin, and grandparents, the W. H Winsteads, while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Utley of Kinston, go on a vacation trip to Detroit, Mich. Mr and Mrs. Lee Dupree of Jacksonville, Fla., were here last week to visit Mrs Dupree's father, G S. Ferrell, and other relatives. Privette, Mrs Mark Fowler and Mr. Henry Privette of Youngsville, and Miss Lucille Perry of Zcbulon made a trip to Jacksonville, Camp Davis, Wil mington and Wrightsville Beach. Miss Mary O'Dear of Creed moor visited her sister, Mrs Mer ritt Massey, the first of this week. Mrs. Riggsby Massey has spent much of her time in Creedmore recently, called there by the criti cal lllnss of her aunt, Mrs. L. R Hayes, with whom she made her home before marriage. At this time it is feared that Mrs. Hayes ] is dying. BIRTH IS ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Gattis Bailey an nounce the birth of a son, Warren Gattis, on May 26. Mrs. Bailey was formerly Miss Inez Lewis of Middlesex. MRS. DAWSON ENTERTAINS Mrs. Robert Dawson delight fully entertained members of the Friendly Nine Bridge Club at her home here. Tables for contract were placed in the living room which was attractively decorated with roses and other flowers.
