THIS TIME YOU MAY IK) IT FOR YOURSELF With so much to do that we have to work all day long and often a part of the night, with all the Christmas hurry and worry, and now the most awful war the world has ever known coming to our doors, I do not feel physically, mentally or spirit uaiiy like even trying to give our readers an editorial opinion or auvice on anything. So 1 am not advising you. But, as for myself, I hope curing this Christmas season 1 may be able for a little at least to shut all the noise out and listen to God. Surely tic nas a message for each of us if we will only stop long enough 10 listen to him Perhaps we need most of all to be still long enoug'i to know that he is God. After reading again the story of that first Christmas when all the world was filled with joy and peace, let us turn to Matthew 24 and read again what Jesus said about “last things”. Particularly note: “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled.” Reader’s Forum On Sunday morning Mr. Rich ardson and 1 drove to Samaria to hear Rev. A. D. Parrish preach. My father, the laste Wesley Priv ett, was a deacon there over 60 years ago. Wc were delighted to see the present modern, well equipped building. Pastor Parrish announced that up to date all indebtedness has been paid and there is a small fund already be gun for choir seats, etc. They had splendid music and the house was filled with interested people. Rev. Parrish is the George Tructt type, calm, serene and spiritual. His father and mother were reared in the Wendell community and we felt proud of him. Another episode came to mind. On the Sunday after the earth qquake of 1887 our family, with a lot of neighbors attended an all day revival meeting and carried dinner. The evangelist was emo tional and plainly showed us that the earthquake was the last ful fillment of the Bible. To me it seemed Gabriel might blow his trumpet any minute. I clung to my mother's dress, afraid to look around. Several women fainted: almost every one shouted. Much time has passed since then. 1 would not be surprised if another such day might awaken a sense of duty in some of us. MRS. ED V. RICHARDSON Roscdale Manor, Wendell NNOUNCEMENT Due to the present crisis the Lone Star Quartet will not be at Hopkins Chapel on December 18, as has been announced previously. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦»+♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ | NORTH CAROLINA * | WAKE COUNTY + J As Administratix of J. Life is short for long waiting—but marriage is forever, or should be. My one bit of unchangeable advice is that the marriage be an . nounccd as soon as it takes place. 1 hold that the three greatest events, birth, marriage and death, are entitled to all privacy that may be desired by those involved; but in every ease results should be made public. I FI DELIS CLASS MEETS The Senior Fidelis class of the Baptist S. S. met on Monday night in the home of Mrs. Allan Pippin with Mesdamcs Robert Phillips and Rondal Phillips as sistant hostesses. Will sell reason ably Mrs. A. J. Hunt, Ze bulon Impressions While out in the interest of the Zebulon Record recently it has been my good pleasure to meet many friends, and to make contact with many of the citizens ol Eastern Wake, Johnson, Nash and Franklin counties, whom I had not known. Everywhere, fol lowing U. S. R. F. D. routes - and they do zigzag— I have met with unfailing courtesy and con sideration from rich and poor, colored and white. The impressions on me, in this work, have been varied and num erous, but the one most clear and pleasing is that the farmers as a whole are happier than I have seen them in many years. They have had a better year than many of the lean ones of the past. It is not so hard to smile when there is a little extra cash after expen ses have been met# And there is a lot of good corn and other pro ducts for both man and beast, wood piles and coal bins are sup plied with fuel generally. Alto gether it is a happy picture, cer tainly so compared with war con ditions. Next week I hope to write $/t. Jp. C./Afwrvn^ APEX N. C. Office Phone 2101—Res.
