Fort Bragg was home for a few
days last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Wrenn
and Mr and Mrs. Woodrow
Campbell of Raleigh spent last
bunday with Mrs. Rcspie McGee.
Woodrow W. Liles of the U.
S. Navy in Honolulu left Thurs
day to return to Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Liles has served twelve -years
in the navy and this was his first
visit home in ten years. He is the
biother of Mrs. Rcspie McGee.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferd L. Davis
announce the birth of a son, Ferd
Leary, Jr., at their home on
Thursday, December 4.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Temple of
.leigh were here Sunday to visit

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Massey
of Franklinton with their daugh
ter, Miss Dorothy, and son, Billy,
spent Sunday here with the Phil
lip Massey family.
Tally Cox and sister, Mrs.
James Stuart Finch, of Jackson
ville, Fla., arrived last Saturday
to visit their aunt, Mrs. Julian
Horton. The former has returned
home, Tiut Mrs. Finch remained
for a longer stay.
J. G. Pearce, of Raleigh, who
has been for some time in Rex
Hospital, is said to be improving
at present. Mr. Pearce was form
erly of Zebulon.
Mrs. Thomas Scarborough was
taken to Rex Hospital last Sun
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wright,
Jr., are moving to Winston-Salem.
For some months they have been
at home in Zebulon, Mrs. Wright
coming from Raleigh to be with
her mother, Mrs. M. B. Charn
blee. Their many friends regret
their leaving here.
Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Lewis and
family have moved into the apart
ment in the house occupied by the
Allan Youngs. Mr. Lewis is an
employe at Temple Market. They
moved here from Middlesex.

were guests of Miss Gussie Har
rcl of Tarboro Sunday. Miss Har
rel is a cousin of Mr. House.

and Mrs. A. R House, called
from Washington, D. C , Monday

After being kept in bed for
several days as a result of an au
tomobile collision, Allan Pippin
was able to be out on Monday.

Lieut Graham V. Chamblee of
the 15th Infantry, has been or
dered to the Quartermaster Sup
ply Depot, Fort Wayne, Indiana,
for a four weeks course of in
struction at the Detroit M
facturers’ Schools, Detroit, Mich.
Upon completion of the course,
he will rejoin his unit here. Lieut.
Chamblee is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. S. Chamblee of Zebulon,
Route 1.

at Mary Elisabeth Hospital, Ra
leigh, on Tuesday morning, De
cember 9. Mrs. Dawson was
formerly Miss Mildred Winstead
of Ransomville. The baby's name
is Mildred Winstead.

On Saturday evening, Decem
ber 6, Miss Kelley Leonard of
Castalia and Raleigh was united
in marriage to Aivin Murray of
Raleigh and Zebulon, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. Murray of Zcb
ulon. The ceremony was per
formed in the home of the Rev.

The couple will make their home
in Raleigh.

she carried an arm bouquet of
white and pink bridal roses with
swansonia, centered w-ith a cor
sage of bride’s roses.

R. A.’s and G. A.'s will meet at
the Church Wednesday afternoon

munity folk attended the pro
gram presented by the Lone Star
Quartette at the Pearce School
last Tuesday night.
Master Wayne Pearce, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Pearce, is re
cuperating after having a very
severe case of diptheria.
Carl Ray, who holds a very
prominent position in the Navy
Yard at Portsmouth, Va., spent
was of bronze chrysanthemums.
Little Nancy Ann Burke of
Siler City, niece of the bride, was
ring-bearer, carrying the ring on
a silver tray.
The bridegroom was attended
by Wilson Braswell of Zebulon
as best man. Ushers were Eu
gene Goldston Burke of Siler City,
brother' of the bride; Johnnie
Goldston of Sanford, Doane F.
Kemp of Raleigh and Jack Temple
of Zebulon.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. T. B Burke and the late
Mr. Burke of Goldston. She is
a graduate of Mary Elizabeth
Hospital Training School in Ra
leigh and has been a member of
the Mary Elizabeth Hospital staff
for the past year as night super
visor.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mrs. S. A Horton and the late
Mr. Horton of Zebulon. He is in
business in Zcbulrtn and also has
agricultural interests here.
Mr. and Mrs. Horton left im
mediately after the wedding for
a trip to Florida. They will be at
home in Zebulon after Decembt r
15.
After the rehearsal Friday
evening, Mrs. Burke, mother of
the bride, entertained at a cake
cutting at her home, honoring
members of the wedding party.
