Subscription: 1 year, $1.00; 6 months, 60c; 3 months, 30c “A Tinie For All Things” A long, long time ago a wise man said there was a time for all things. Since we have lived only a short time a lot of things hav# never happened so far as we know, while a lot of things have happened which we felt happened at the wrong time. Last weel| we made a statement concerning Wakelon school on matters pertaining to its interests. We tried to speak without criti cism or antagonism to any one connected with the school. About that time a student brought us something concerning Wakelon which was meant to be published in the Record. Since we felt the matter involved was strictly an affair of the school board, we be lieved it wise to leave such re quest out of the paper. Since then we have received another communication from another stu dent, we presume (it was unsign ed), who aitks that it be published. Were we disposed to do so, we could not since this paper makes # Trained Worker Mrs. R. H. The Record has no criticism to make nor any advice to offer to ous school board. We believe they are fully competent to repre sent the patrons of the school. Only when they show they are not, will it be time for tis to sug gest their course or protest their action. Even had we something to say to them as to our opinion regarding the future of the school, we think it wiser and more ap propriate for us to write them a personal letter as to our views and opinions. w: Only when matters that affect the whole community have become known and affect all the people do we believe it best to appeal through the public forum. No such situation confronts Wakelon school. Our Board can well han dle the situation and we are con fident they will give us a compe tent faculty for the next school year. School Awards Awards won at Wakelon were given as follows at commence ment: Recitation —Betty King. Declamation—Charles Horton. Debater—Fred Page. In the annual debate Fred Page and Effie Jane Bridges, affirma tive team, won the decision oppos ing Dexter Joyner and Rava Nell Driver, negative. The query Resolved, That the manufacture of munitions of war should be a gov ernment monopoly.
