Hagwood of near Zebulon, has been trans ferred from Camp Davis and is now a member of the Army Nurs ing Staff at Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boswell and little son have returned to New Jersey after visiting relatives here. Armstrong of Wakelon’s faculty has recovered from an ill ness that kept him in bed during most of the commencement. Sul fathiazole used for a chronic throat trouble had an adverse reaction, which added to his discomfort. Earl Antone of the U. S. Navy was home for the week end with his parents, the A. D. Antr-nes. Mrs. Antone came home from the hospital Saturday, but Mr. Antone stayed for further treatment. He had some ribs broken in the auto mobile accident in which both he and his wife were hurt ten days ago. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winstead of Raleigh announce the birth of a daughter, Judy Dalton, at Mary Elizabeth Hospital, on Monday. May 11. Mr. and ivfrs. Rodney Murray announce thb birth of a son at their home on Tuesday morning. May 12. Mrs. Murray was form erly Miss Cleo Denton. Pastor G J. Griffin is preaching this week in revival services in Norlina. Mrs. Griffin is visiting her mother. Mrs. W. A. Poplin of Rockingham. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy of La Grange visited their son’s wife, Mrs. Kenneth Kennedy of Cheraw, S. C., at the home of her parents, the J. K. Barrows, on Thursday of last week. Two members of Zebulon’s Rot ary Club will hold office in the Convention of the 189th District to be held in Raleigh. R. D. Mas sey is to be ergeant-at-arms and R. J. Sawyer is on the credentials committee. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Mason and Miss Faye Privette are visiting friends and relatives in New York this week. Mrs. Z. N. Culpepper left last Friday to visit her mother. Mrs. L. B. Kirby of Tunstall, Va. Mrs. D. M. Dizor has returned home after visiting relatives in Ra leigh and Durham. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Underhill and baby son are moving this week to Goldsboro where for a while they will be with Mrs. Un derhill’s parents. The Hubert Eddins home at Wakefield was the gathering place last Sunday not only for the im mediate family and married chil dren, but for other relatives who came to see Mrs. Mack Eddins with Mother’s Day remembrances. C. Mrs. J. J. Whitlock of Wendell spoke to those attending Mission ary meeting at the Baptist church Sunday night. Her talk was time ly and interesting. She traced the growth and development of mis sions and emphasized the necessi ty og keeping on with the world wide program. Charles Hinton of Baltimore spent several days here recently with his parents, the A. S. Hint on’s. 1 Mrs. J. G. Mehegan and son, Charles Mehegan of Kinston, visit ed Mrs. Ferd Davis for a short while Sunday afternoon. With them was Miss Mary Harris, who remained for a visit of a few days with Mrs. Davis, who is her sister. Engagement Mr. and Mrs. William Herbert Jones of Melrose, Massachusetts, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ruth Evelyn Jones, to Mr. Frederick Chamblee, son of Mrs. Millard B. Chamblee, and the late Mr. Chamblee, of Zebulon, N. C. Miss Jones attended the Uni versity of Vermont and the Chand ler School, Boston, Massachusetts, and is a member of Kappa Delta Psi. Mr. Chamblee is a graduate of Darlington Academy, Rome, Georgia, and attended the Univer sity of North Carolina. An early wedding is planned. Bridge Club Mrs. John K. Barrow, Jr., was hostess recently when she enter tained members of her bridge club at her home in Zebulon. The home was made more attractive with several arrangements of cut flow ers. At the end of th# bridge games, high and low score prizes of defense stamps, were presented to Mesdames G. S. Barbee and L. M. Massey, respectively. A dessert course was served to Mesdames G. S. Barbee, Foster Finch, Charles E. Flowers, Irby Gill, L. M. Massey, Albert Medlin, Avon Privett and Fred Page.
