C. “PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW - ’ A week ago one heard on every hand complaints about the weath er. Some farmers thought their crops were already ruined for lack of rain. Tobacco was small and uneven, some corn overnight did not get out of the twist. Then the rain came, plenty of it in a gentle fall at first, then harder, till the thirsty earth was full. Now, one week later, you hear folks saying prospects for good crops already are better than last year’s. Farm ers are cheerful and hope stirs in every breast. We hope with our rejoicing that due credit will be given to the Giver of every good gift, that it may be seen in the way we live, the way we spend our means in these times when, if ever, people should economize and live thrifti ly. It’s easy enough to blame oth ers when things go wrong, even to criticise God when they get pretty bad, but we should give due credit to Him when such material bless ings come as the late rain, such that if He did not send, we would be hopelessly ruined. The doxolo gy is in order; also a more conse crated sort of living is more vital. NOT DEMOCRATIC, TO SAY THE LEAST Dr. Meadows may have started the trouble at E. C. T. C., but he certainly is in no sense responsible for matters as they have develop ed since. We have all along felt ELBERTA Peaches For Sale IN YOUR CONTAINER AT ORCHARD C. D. C. 4T that while Dr. Meadows showed poor business and carelessness in handling funds entrusted to his care, on the other hand, all of the blundering by the Trustees since has shown that they are far from the sort of men and women to whom such responsibilities should be delegated, that of directing the affairs of the college and its facul ty. From the first they have acted as though there was something too bad for the people to know and every time they have held a se cret meeting, it has reflected on some one—mostly themselves. We stated when the press was filled with reports of conditions at the college that the best thing would be for the trustees them selves to resign. We still think so. Late developments only con firm our conviction. When a Board that acts for the people meets in secret and gives a cut and dried report of its acts and delibera tions, something must be lacking or wrong besides the character of those operating the institution. There may have been cause for not re-electing certain members of the faculty, but there is more cause that a new Board of Trus tees be appointed. Right now that will do more to restore confidence in the E. C. T. C. than anything we know. They have messed and muddled the situation long enough and a new Board only will satisfy many students, alumni and friends of the institution.
