JUST OR NOT? We have heard some criticism of our Recorder's Court in dealing with a sailor found guilty of vio lating the law against speeding. It seems others involved missed trial. This man not only paid the costs but v.as fined. This seems to us to be somewhat unusual in dealing with local folks for their first violation of the law. If the law r is always impartially admin istered, then there was no reason for making this case an exception favorable even to a young man in military service. However, our sympathies are with a boy who has been on the firing line facing death for months and is given a short respite to v sit back home. “GOD BLESS THE WOMEN" A number of mothers have spok en to us of an editorial we pub lished ash t time ago about cer tain law violations in town. They asked us to keep up the good work, or we might sav “words”. This paper stands ready to back any effor' t i remove eve vthing in our midst that reflects on our I good name, or that we would be unwilling to publish to the world. We hi ve talked witn the town au thorities and also the pastors of the local churches about certain conditions. All agreed that some thing ought to be done about it. The mayor indicated that some thing would be done about it. If the good women of Zebulon. along with those citizens who really care, and the pastors of the churches— : if they will start/a movement to rid our town of questionable things conducted on Sundays and : week-days, we are ready to join efforts and work till this becomes j a community of law-abiding chris- j tian people. Most of us are mem- | bers of a church. So far as we [ know mo t of those engaged in il- | legal and questionable things are j ■ members of the church. More than once in our life have 1 we tried a one-man campaign for I righteousness and the good people , cf the community failed to rally to our support. Had we not been j sure ot the righteousness of our cause, we would have gone down in shameful defeat. While our sons are fighting for the rights of: all mankind, it is well that we do : some fighting of our own, so they > may come home to a town in which j we take a righteous pride. Dr. L. M.
