He expects to be home in two or three weeks. Ted Davis was taken back to Rex Hospital on Thursday night of last week after being at home for two days. Mrs. Evelyn Morrow is here from Washington, D. C. to spend a while with her sister, Mrs. Ida Hall. Douglas Chamblee, son of the C. S. Chamblees is doing work on an advanced degree at Ames Uni versity, lowa, where he will study three months. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Currin of Oxford visited in the W. N. j Pitts home on Monday of this week. The Currins were or a while citizens of this community, and members of the Dora Pitts W. M. S. were especially glad to have Mrs. Currin a guest at the meeting Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Poindexter of Winston-Salem are here with the C. V .Whitleys. Mrs. Poindex ter is Mrs. Whitley’s sister. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris of Creedmoor and their aunt. Miss Mollie Harris of Franklinton, vis ited Mrs. Harris’ parents, the A. D. Antones, Monday. The L. E. Finches and sons of Dillon. S. C came Saturday to visit the J. D. Finches and other relatives here, returning home Sunday. j Norma Faye Gill, daughter of ' the Ruric Gills, was taken to Ral eigh Monday for treatment of an infected ear. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hinton ' have received word that their son, ! pfc. Perlis Hinton, is again in a hospital They have not been given details, nor the location of the hospital. Pfc. Hinton is some where in the European war area. W. M. S. MEETS The Dora Pitts W. M. S. met Monday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Pitts with Mesdames K. P. Leonard, C. S. Chamblee. S. A. Horton and Robert Edd Horton associate hostesses. After a devo tional led by Mrs. C. S. Chamblee Mrs. Theo. Davis talked on Cen tennial Plans connected with Southern Baptist history. Mrs. S. A. Horton conducted the business session. Refreshments served by 1 the assicoate hostesses were en joyed during a social hour. The Nowell Y. W. A. of Wake field Baptist Church held its reg ular monthly meeting in the home 1 of Mrs. Harold Green on Wed nesday night, Jan. 17. This being the first meeting of the New Year, the entire meet ing was devoted to the new offi cers and their duties. The Presi dent ,Mrs. Herman Eddins, nam ed the officers and selected new committees. She charged them to carry out their duties to the best of their ability and expressed the desire that the membership com mittee, especially, will be more active this year, trying to bring in all the available young women I of our neighborhood in our Y- W- A. The importance of Tithing was stressed, also, and each mem ber was asked to tithe this year. The treasurer, Miss Matoka l Pace, gave a full report for 1944, | which was very encouraging. Miss Faye Lee of Smithfield spent the weekend here with her aunt, Mrs. J. G. Terry. Mr. and Mrs. James Oakley of Route 1 announce the birth of a daughter at Rex Hospital on Jan uary 22. Mrs Curtis Critz, the former Etha Strickland, has received the Purple Heart, posthumously awarded her husband, who was 1 killed in action in the European area last July.
