Friday, March 16, 1945 PERSONALS Mrs. Billy Horton of Wendell is •critically ill in Rex Hospital. Be cause of the scarcity of nurses Mrs. Horton’s sisters are taking turns in looking after her during the day, a special night nurse having been secured. Mrs. Ruric Gill was the nurse on Tuesday. Mrs. Irvin Pearce has gone to Florida to spend some time with her daughter, Mrs. Morehead and family. Mrs. Harold Casey, the former Miss Imogene Pearce, has gone to be with her husband, who re cently came home from service overseas, having been wounded. They were married at Boonville in February. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Ivon Pearce and has been employed in Raleigh. Doc White is improving after an attack of illness that threat ened pneumonia. He is at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ollie Pearce. Mrs. Z. N. Culpepper left last week to visit relatives in Wash ington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Bush of Chapel Hill attended Homecom ing at Wakefield Sunday, also visiting in the home of their sis ter. Mrs. C. S. Chamblee. Jean Bunn, daughter of the Ralph Bunns, is sick this week with chicken-pox. Mrs. G. B. Dovle, Jr., and baby aer here from Baltimore visiting the Grady Doyles and other rela tives. The B. H. Johnsons met their daughter, Miss Louise, junior at WCUNC, Greensboro. for the weekend at the home of Mr:.. Johnson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. PPtman Stell. Other weekend visitors were Mrs. M. E. Sham burger and son. Van,- of Rich mond. and Miss Betsy Shambur- ; per, senior at Mary Washington j College. Mrs. Steve Anderson of Wilson, sister ot M. E. Shambur ger, came from Sunday after noon to visit ir the Stell home. Union Hope Pvt. Vaiden P. Strickland was home last weekend for a short visit. He is now stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. He is wearing two medals won for being sharp shooter and expert gunner while taking his training in Camp Blanding, Florida. Pvt. J. T. Massey is home on a furlough. He has just finished his basic training at Camp Wheeler Ga. and has to report to Fort Feade, Md„ for further training. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Massey gave a barbecue and brunswick stew dinner last Sat urday on honor of Pvt. Massey. All of his relatives and lots of frineds were invited. Clayton Whitley is home on a thirty day leave. He has been o;i another voyage overseas and has visited different places in the war area. He reports having been to North Africa. France and U Parents of Pvt.
