We have some problems that
seem will never be solved. For
instance: the Race problem. La
bor and Capital. Church and
State. These have to do with race,
business and religion. At their
heart they are vital questions
relative as to how one treats his
fellow man as judged by the fun
damental principles that underlie
even life itself. Broadly and bas
ically the Word of God lays down
fthat course men should follow in
kll differences among themselves,
"whether singly or in large groups.
Succintly the principles invilved
and expressed both concretely and
abstractly in many instances are
found in the Bible. Jesus summed
it all up in the Golden Rule.
Instead of preachers and others
who seek a solution of these so
called greater problems of life as
they affect the nation and even
the whole world dealing with
them in a general way, they would
make far greater progress by ap
proaching these things so troub
ling all men as they relate to in
dividuals. If all preachers would
fearlessly and personally apply
ply the Gospel to their own con
gregations, they would far better
help to solve social problems. By
so doing, they would reach the so
lution of the bigger ones through
their own fellowship and mem
bership.
Most of us are aiming too high
and also too far. The race prob
lem is my problem. When I have
learned how to treat my brother
in black in a Christian way, that
problem is solved for me. And
so of all other personal problems
affecting me and all other people.
Until I am right—till I have
solved my own problems, just so
much of the world’s problems will
remain.

ty of man.’’ The solution of our
every problem has its beginning
in these words, and ends with the
Golden Rule.
A man 65 years old gets $24.83
Social Security per month from
the U. S. Government. Some
states supplement this. A 65-
year-old woman gets $19.83. But
if one earns more than $14.99 per
month he forfeits his government
check. So with wages running
from 75 cents to $2.00 per hour
men workers prefer keeping at it
rather than retiring. When we
come to earning 75 cents a day
instead of an hour as in the great
depression, a lot of the young fel
lows will be impatiently waiting
for the turn of 65.
One office holder said to an

treated me all right. I’ve had a

Pre-School Clinic Will
Be Held at Wakelon
Tuesday, March 18
The Wakelon Pre-School Clinic
will be held in the auditorium of
Wakelon High School on Tuesday,
March 18, at ten o’clock a. m. If
your child will enter school next
year, please have him at the Clin
ic for a complete physical check
up. Statistics have proven that a
healthy child makes much greater
progress in school than does the
child with physical defects. Have
your child examined so that any
defects may be found and correct
ed before the child enters school.
We are planning a good time for
the children and we are expecting
you parents to co-operate, as usu
al, by having your child present.

Letters pour in from all over

states, most of them brimming
over with insults for Sam Beard.
Some get read on the air, some
don’t. But Beard takes time to
glance over them all. It proves to
him that being obnoxious pays.
