Page Two Pilot Girl to Play On American Softball Team in Havana, Cuba * Miss Jackie Stallings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Stallings left Sunday night for a couple of months in Havana, Cuba. She is going to play on the All Girls j American Soft Ball team in Cuba. We wish her the best of luck. Archie Bunn is visiting his mother Mrs. Mamie Bunn for a few weeks. He has been serving in the Merchant Marine for the past year. He had two of his boy friends visiting with him also. We are happy to report that Mr. J. B. Alford is improving nicely. Misses Alice Jones and Lazelle t Lewis have returned to work after j being at home for a coupte of weeks. Mr. Calvin Spann was with his wife for the weekend. Miss Lodane Medlin of Wilming ton visited her mother Mrs. Ludie : Medlin for the weekend. Sgt. and Mrs. Ned Medlin and son are visiting his mother Mrs. j Ludie Medlin for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Jarman Finch have returned to Richmond, Va., \ to their work, after being at home , a week. Miss Ora Alford of Raleigh was j a guest at Mrs. Bud Ray’s on Sun day. March 18, 147 At a special meeting of the Mayor and the Town Board of Commissioners, called for the purpose of a primary election to be held in the town of Zebulon, North Carolina, for nominat ing a Mayor and five Commissioners for the Town of Zebulon, N. C. with the following present: Mayor Avon Privette, Com missioners Norman W. Screws, Worth Hinton, R. Vance Brown, F. L. Page, Jr., and W. B. Bunn. R. Vance Brown was elected as temporary Clerk. The following resolution and order calling a primary elec tion for the Town of Zebulon, N. C. to be held on April 28th, 1947, pursuant to law, was duly adopted. BE IT RESOLVED and ordered by the Board of Commis sioners of the Town of Zebulon, N. C. Section 1. That a primary election for the purpose of nom inating a Mayor and five Commissioners for the Town of Zebu lon, N. C., to be elected in the Town election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May, is hereby called and ordered to be held pursuant to Chapter 164, of the public laws of North Carolina, Session of 1929, and other laws applicable thereto and mandatory of said Chapter 165, said primary to be held on April 28, 1947. Section 2. That the place for holding such primary election shall be the Zebulon Fire Station in the said town, and the hours in which the polls are to be open for the purpose of casting bal lots in the said primary election shall be from sunrise to sunset. Section 3. That for the purpose of said primary election and for the purpose of the election of the Town Officers, to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May, Mrs. Ethel J. Brown is hereby appointed and designated as Registrar, Z. N. Culpepper and J. A. Braswell as Judges for the election. Section 4. That for the purpose of registration of voters in said election, the registration books shall be open on Saturday, March 28th, 1947 and shall remain open until April 26, 1947, so that all persons that may be entitled to vote and who have not been previously registered may be properly registered. Section 5. That pursuant to the law all persons who may desire to become candidates for the office of Mayor or Commis sioner, shall on the 12th of April, 1947, file in the office of the Town Clerk, his candidacy as required by law Section 6. That the Town Clerk be, and is hereby ordered and directed to have printed sufficient ballots, according to law containing the names of all candidates for said offices respect ively who have complied with the law and filed their notice with him as hereinbefore required. Section 7. That the Town Clerk be, and he is hereby order ed and directed to notify the said Registrar and Judges of Elec tion, herein appointed, in writing, to be served by the Chief of Police of the Town of Zebulon, N. C. Section 8. That the Town Clerk is hereby ordered and di rected to cause this notice to be published in the local newspaper and to post notices of this primary election at three public places in the Town of Zebulon, N.
