Mrs. Chris Brantley Celebrates Birthday By Bill Ferguson Mrs. Christopher Sherwood Brantley, affectionately known to most Zebulon residents simply as “Mrs. Chris,” was honored at her home on the Bunn Road last Sun day, when twenty-eight of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered at her seventy-ninth birthday dinner. Mrs. Brantley, who still does housework and takes care of: chickens and garden, has lived in , the community for years, and is j related through kinship and mar- [ riage to most of the older families j of the Zebulon section. Present at the celebration were j the following children: Mr. and j Mrs. G. B. CARROLLS The Zebulon Record Chamblee Clan Holds Annual Reunion Here By Theo. B. Davis There are Chamblees and Chamblees within a radius of 25 miles of Zebulon, but probably | the best known are those around Zebulon. Among the most well known are the descendants of the late Sydney Chamblee. For near ly a quarter of a century, com mencing during the life of Mrs Sydney Chamblee, the family has | had a reunion almost every year in August. On last Sunday the Chamblee j clan, with hardly an exception, gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Chamblee near Zebulon. A sumptuous spread dinner was served under the great oak trees on the lawn. Present were Dr. Frank Chamblee of Spring Hope, j Mrs. Nettie Hester, Wendell; Mrs. Mary Eddins and C. S. Chamblee of Zebulon; their husbands and wives and a large number of grandchildren and great-grand children, and other kinspeople and friends. There were 75 peo ple present. Following the dinner, Rev. Ed ward Chamblee of Wilmington called a business meeting. Reports were made, and introductions of in-laws and new members were made. Remarks were made by Revs. Theo. B. Davis, R. H. Her ring, and Dr. Walter N. Johnson of Raleigh. The following new officers were elected: Pres. Dr. Frank Cham blee; vice-pres., Mrs. Carrie Lew is; sec.-treas., Mrs. Rodney Mc- Nabb; master of ceremonies, C. S. Chamblee; chaplain, Rev. Theo. B. Davis; historian, Rev.
