Page Two Johnston County Agent Takes Position in Field For Tobacco Associates (Continued from Page 1) a 10-cents per acre assessment to support the Tobacco Associates program. Morgan, born on a tobacco farm near Cary, Wake County, was graduated from North Carolina State College in 1931, with a de gree in Agricultural Education. A member of Kiwanis, and immedi ate past president of the Smit.hfield club, he is also a member of the Masonic Order, as well as the Scottish Rite Bodies, Raleigh. He has served as President of the State County Agents Association for two years. Miss Anne Honeycutt Entertained Saturday With Cake Cutting Miss Anne Honeycutt, bride elect, was entertained last Satur day night by Mrs. Thurman Mur ray, Mrs. Proctor Scarboro. and Lillie Ferret at the home of Mrs. Murray The living room was dec orated with fall flowers and min iature bride dolls and burning ta pers. After the bride-elect cut the first slice, the three-tiered wedding cake was served by Mrs. Murray. Mrs. Honeycutt, mother of the honoree, served punch from the other end of the table. Lillie Fer rel and Mrs. Scarboro assisted in serving ribbon sandwiches, brid al sandwiches, mints ;yid nuts. Misses Emma Jean Pace, Mel rose Perry and Beatrice Strick land, brides-elect, were also re membered with gifts. Miss Honey cutt received gifts of china, crys tal and silver in her chosen pat terns and other useful gifts from the guests. About 35 were present. Mrs. E. W. Hood Is Recovering from Illness Mrs. E. W. Hood of Wakefield has improved considerably after undergoing an operation for gall stones at Rex Hospital in Raleigh last Friday, and is now able to receive visitors. A general cleanup for the town has been urged by civic clubs and citizens for some time, and Mayor Bridgers stated that it is his hope that the churches, civic groups, and other organizations will give complete cooperation in this pro ject. Pearce Church Plans Suppers at School Beginning Saturday, September 20, the ladies of Pearces Church will serve supper each Saturday until Christmas at Pearces School from 5:00 till 7:00. Plates will sell for 35 and 75 cents. Proceeds from the suppers will be used to build an addition to the church. The bride’s mother received in a gown of copper satin, with black accessories, and wore a corsage of talisman roses. For their wedding trip to Ral eigh, the bride chose a dress of ashes-of-roses, with brown and white accessories. On their return the couple will reside in Washing | ton, D. C.
