October 10, 1947 Local Girl Married In Baltimore Church Sunday Afternoon The marriage of Miss Zelma Grey Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Collie Powell of Zebulon to Gerald W. Gavitt, son of Mrs. Earl Gavitt and the late Mr. Gavitt of Baltimore, Md., took place Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock in the Scott Street Baptist Church. The Rev. How ard C. Lane performed the cere mony. The wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. L. A. Greenwood. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, E. C. Powell, wore a biege suit with brown ac cessories and a corsage of white roses. Mrs. Warren Keys served her sister as matron of honor. War ren Keys was best man. Mrs. Powell, mother of the bride, wore a black suit and the dress of the mother of the bridegroom was of black crepe. They both wore corsages of orchids. Immediately following the cere mony a reception was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Keys in Rodgers Forge. After the reception, the couple left for Niagara Falls. Pow ell and son Billy of Zebulon and Miss Elizabeth Gibbs of Alexan dria, Va. Pleasant Hill News By Mrs. T. Y. Puryear At this writing we are having beautiful weather, not too cold, not too hot, just pleasant. We are glad to say Mrs. E. W. Hood was discharged from the hospital last week and is at her daughter’s Mrs. D. A. Gay in Ral eigh. She is getting on as well as could be expected. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mr. Floyd and Julian Johnson and other brothers of this sec tion in the death of their father last week. Also Mr. Zeb Pearce and Mrs. J. A. Puryear and family of Mitchell’s Mill section were visi tors at Mr. T. Y. Puryear’s Sun day afternoon. YWW Class Meets The Y. W. W. Class held its reg ußar monthly class meeting on Monday night at the club house with Rachel Privette, the new president, presiding. The devo tional was led by Agnes Haw kins. Mary Temple gave a very interesting talk on “The Life of Mary, the Mother of Mark.’ Following the business session the hostesses, Rachel Privette, Lu cille Martin, and Dorothy Elling ton, entertained with games, after which delicious refreshments were served.
