Page Two METHODIST CHURCH The W. S. C. S. of the local Methodist Church met this week in the home of Mrs. A. R. House. Mrs. Kitchings, president, had charge of the program. She was assisted by Mrs. Waylan Finch, Mrs. Garland Richardson and Mrs. .Joe Tippett. The program car ried out the theme of the year, Children’s Work and Mission Work in Foreign Fields. The Special Life Group met in the Methodist Church. Mrs. Jeth ro Stell was in charge of the pro gram. The meeting was fairly well attended. BRIDGE CLUB The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club met last week in the home of Mrs. Frank Lombardo. After several progressions, a prize for high score was awarded Mrs. F. L. Page, low score to Mrs. L. M. Massey. A gift was presented Mrs. Jennie Piariana, house guest of Mrs. Lombardo. Delicious refreshments consist ing of chicken salad, pimiento cheese sandwiches, pickle, lemon pie and coffee, were served. Mrs. Marlin Quick and Mrs. Ed Hales were refreshment guests. Those playing were Mesdames L. M. Massey, Avon Privett, G. S. Barbee, Charles Flowers, F. L. Page, Wallace Chamblee, Jennie Piariana, and Irby Gill. WAKEFIELD NEWS There seems to be quite a bit of traveling going on lately. Mrs. T. C. Pippin and Little Teddy Pippin are leaving home Wednesday for Washington, D. C., where they will spend the night. They leave, flying on a DC-6, Thursday at 2:05 p.m., and arrive in Hawaii at 9:15 Friday morning. She is planning to stay till Christmas. We all wish them good luck and a very pleasant trip. I hear Mrs. Theo. B. Davis is also taking a trip out to see her husband, who was injured in a J. M. Chevrolet Co. Hood is still improv ing at her daughter's home in Ra leigh. She won’t come home for a while yet. Mrs. J. M. Johnson spent some time with Mrs. C. M. Rhodes last week and visited old friends around where she used to live. The Missionary Society held its monthly meeting with Mrs. P. P. Pace recently, with Mrs. C. B. Pace joint hostess. Mrs. Vera Rhodes is having complications between a fat back meat skin, a broken tooth, a den tist, a pair of pullikins, and what have you, and is in bed at present not doing so well. Mrs. Robert Eddins was surpris ed Saturday night with a chicken barbecue at the Wake Builders Supply by several of her friends, Sunday being her birthday. She got many nice presents and cards.
