Whitely of Wendell, lawyer, farmer, and businesman, announced his candidacy for the North Carolina House of Repre sentatives from Wake County this week. Whitley, a former chair man of the Witke County Execu tive Committee, is the second man to announce his candidacy, James B. Little, Jr., Raleigh attorney, having announced last week. Whitley is a veteran of World War 11, having commanded an in fantry company in Europe. He spent 45 months in service, receiv ing his discharge with the rank of captain. The Wendell man is a member of the Zebulon-Wendell American Legion Post. “I shall make my stand known on issues as they arise,” he said yesterday. “If elected, I pledge myself to serve faithfully all the people of Wake County and North Carolina.” Little also is a veteran of World War 11. He has declared himself in favor of a farm-to-market sys tem of roads, “even if it requires a bond issue.” IRBY D.
