We believe that the a mount sent in to headquarters was as large if not larger than any year before. Wakelon School did a grand job—lts final report be ing $200.48. The Wakelon Thea ter’s collection was $113.26. Con tributions from individuals and containers placed in the two drug stores and post office amounted to $126.28. . The grand total was $440.02. The drive was sponsored by the Woman’s Club this year. We want to thank each person who helped in any way to make the drive a success. Red Cross Heads Meet in Raleigh Mr. Ralph Talton has been des ignated as Chairman of the com mittee which will solicit residents in Zebulon and Wakefield for the 1948 Red Cross Fund Raising Campaign, it was announced by State Senator R. N. Simms, Jr., Chairman of the County Division. Mr. R. O. Heater of Raleigh is Vice Chairman of the County Division. Zebulon Cagers Win Over Knightdale The Rev. Carlton Mitchell, player-coach of the Zebulon Eag er Beavers basketball team, team ed up here with one of his star pupils in a two-man scoring act to lead the local club to a 54-44 triumph over the Knightdale All Stars. Mitchell and Hilliard Greene ac counted for all of the Eager Bea vers’ points, scoring 31 and 23 re spectively. This was the Zebulon team’s tenth victory out of twelve trys.
