Friday, February 27,1948 PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Palmer of Baltimore are visiting Mrs. Palm er’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hood and baby have moved to Zebulon. They occupy an apartment in the John Bunn home. Kay Eddins, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eddins, is undergoing treatment at Rex Hos pital, Raleigh. Mrs. Ferd Davis returned home Wednesday from Rex Hospital, where she underwent an opera tion Monday for removal of a ganglion from her left hand. William Hoyle, son of Mrs. S. H. Hoyle of Wakefield, is now at tending school in St. Louis, Mis souri. He recently sold his in terest in a Rock Hi,l, S. C., bottl ing plant, and expects to make his home in Laurinburg upon completion of his present studies. R. E. Pippin of Washington, D. C., visited friends and relatives in Zebulon during the past week end. Zebulon Cagers Win The Zebulon basketball team took their ninth victory in eleven starts Monday night when Coach Carlton Mitchell led his charges to a thrilling 41-36 win over Youngsville. The game was play ed on the tiny basketball court in the Youngsville school auditor ium. A last min ute rally, sparked by Mitchell, gave the winners the game. Mitchell led the scoring with 28 points. Hilliard Greene with six and Fred Bunn with four helped the Zebulon scoring. For the los ers, Roberts threw 12 points through the hoop. Ice Halts Power Flow Heavy ice on the lines caused the power to go off on both Caro lina Power and Light and REA lines Sunday. In some areas the current remained off all day and part of the night, but linesmen had repaired nearly all the dam age before nightfall on lines in Wake County. Home owners with electric ranges had to fire up the old wood stove for Sunday dinners in many sections, and several churches, in cluding the Zebulon Baptist and Hopkins Chapel were cold during the morning services, because electrically operated thermostats failed to function.
