WAKEFIELD NEWS
WAKEFIELD CHURCH
10:00 a. m.—Sunday School
11:00 —a. m. Worship Service
Sermon topic, the same as last
Sunday, “God the Supreme Be
ing.”
I knew we could do it if we
tried. Every body asked some
one to come and we had 150 at
Sunday School last Sunday and
we can double that with a little
effort, so let’s put our shoulder
to the wheel and make a big ef
fort to get those to come that
hasn’t been coming. We all owe
it to our Master to go to church
at least once a week whether we
belong or not.
We need to keep the Sabbath
day and there is no better way
than to go to the Lord’s House
and worship, so please come.
We all welcome these pretty
Spring days we had last week. It
gave some the fishing fever but
not me.
I stayed snowed in so long I
got the habit so it’s hard for me
to realize I can get out once more.
We seem to have less sickness
at present than we have had in
a long time. We were so glad
to have Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hen
dricks back at Sunday School. We
have missed them so much.
We had several visitors at S.
S. too, Mrs. Curtis Critz and Mrs.
Marshall Strickland and little
son. Also Mrs. Maybelle Pool of
Raleigh and Mrs. Proctor Scar
boro, and several others, I can’t
name them all, but anyway we
were glad to have you every one
and want you to come again
We were glad to have our teach
er back, she has been snowed in
and bad roads so she hasn’t been
in quite a while.
Mrs. Glover I hope to see you
next Sunday.
We had a wonderful W. M. S.
meeting with the Bethany Church
women last Thursday. We had a
grand lesson taught by brother
Dennis Larkin of Raleigh. The
subject, Spiritual Frontiers by
Dr. C. Redford. It was very in
teresting. It would be good for
us all to get the book and read it
for ourselves. He brought out
the fact that our church is not
a memorial to a dead hero, but a
Spiritual place for a living God.
The Lord has a hard time catch
ing up with those who don’t care.

Mr. Early Green is back in our
vicinity now. We want him to
come to church.
Mrs. J. M. Eddins passed anoth
er birthday the 2nd of February.
It must be lucky to be born on
ground-hog day, she is 91 and
still going strong. The snow was
so bad at the time of her birth
day no one could go to help her
celebrate The mail didn’t go to
deliver her cards in time. Never
theless she had the B. D. just the
same, they don’t wait for better
weather.
Sallie I am sorry you all are
having more snow and bad weath
er, glad to know you all are com
ing soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Gay and
son and also Mrs. E. W. Hood were
down to her home place Sunday.
They are all well again at last.
Mr. T. Y. Puryear and Mr. Joe
Carter stopped in to see Mrs.
Vera Rhodes Monday.
Miss Margaret Warren and Miss
Jeannette Kannon were visitors
of Mrs. H. A. Hodge, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Hood called
to see Mrs. Vera Rhodes.
Mrs. Vera Rhodes spent Friday
and Saturday of last week in Ral
eigh.
Mr. Herman Mims spent Satur
day night with Mr. and Mrs. H.
A. Hodge, Jr. They went with
him to Moncure Sunday p. m.
Mrs. Vera Rhodes and Jimmy
Hodge went to see Mrs. H. A.
Hodge, Sr. Sunday p. m., also the
H. H. Hoods and Mrs. Maggie
King. She is just out of Rex Hos
pital. She is the oldest daughter
of Mrs. Nora Eddins. She is im
proving very well.
Mrs. Fannie Bolton was able to
go to church Sunday, we were
glad to have her back.
Mr. C. E. Stone is better.
We had a large crowd at the
Home Demonstration Club last
: Wednesday. Mrs. Mclnnis gave
some interesting discussions. We
will have transforming our kit
chen next four Wednesdays in
March, be sure to come if you
want to learn to cook a meal and
| stand in your tracks. The most of
us walk our selves to death try
ing to get a meal. We want to
remedy that.
The picture of little Wayne
Price is so innocent and sweet
that was in the Record last week
We had special prayer for him
The Zebulon Record
at our church last Sunday and
we hope he is better by now. It’s
bad to be sick and still worse
when nothing can be done for
him. We realize God is the only
one that can heal him.
Dear Father we thank thee for
our hope in Christ which is an
anchor to the soul. We thank
thee for the life of our little
friend Wayne Price. Dear Father
if it is thy will, help the skilled
hands of the physicians save his
life. Dear God we knod all
things are possible with thee.
Kind Father help the Mother and
and Dad and other loved ones.
Give them strength and courage
to stand the test. Dear Lord we
know he is already yours, but if
you see fit let them keep him a
while longer. Dear Father they
hate to give him up so bad.
Dear Father keep the glorious
vision ever before us of the day
when righteousness shall cover the
earth. Dear Lord give us grace
to bear whatever thou shalt send
and to rejoice that we are parta
kers of the suffering of Christ. O
thou living Savior, fill us anew to
day that the witness we give may
be improved by thee. Amen
Mrs. Vera Rhodes
