Two Cubs, Billy Massey and Douglas Cooke, were initiated into the Boy Scout Troop by Eagle Scout James Debnam and Scoutmaster Barrie Davis. Billy joined the Rattlesnake Patrol and Douglas the Rebel Patrol. One year Service Stars werc presented to Frank Privette, Pat rick Leonard, Luther Long, Lar ry Maiden, William F. T" tt -ww^m There will also be a district prize in which the winner of the Wake County contest will compete with the winners of Durham, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Johnston, Nash, Orange, Vance, Warren, and Wilson Counties. The district prize SIO.OO cash; 4th prize $5.00 cash; and sth prize $5.00 cash. This contest will be held in Henderson and is sponsor ed Dy the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Definite dates have not been set for the Wake County contest but it will be held sometime prior to April 9. The contest is open to any high school student of Wake County. The student may secure details of the contest by contacting his Vocational Teacher in his local school, the County Soil Conservation Service, or Wake County Extension Service. Contestants who are eligible to compete in the county will be de termined through an elimination contest which is held in the local school. These local contests will be administered by the school of ficials. This contest affords a splendid opportunity to bring before the students and the rural public the great losses which occur annually through soil erosion and also will afford the public a splendid op portunity to acquaint themselves with methods which the farmer may use to eliminate soil erosion and at the same time bring about an increase of farm income. It is hoped that there will be a high participation in this contest throughout the county. Woman's Club (Continued from Page 1) cancer, saying the work will be done here the first week in March.
