Friday, May 14, 1948 WAKEFIELD NEWS We had a good crowd at church Sunday to hear the wonderful Mothers’ Day sermon our pastor preached , it was the best I have heard in a long time. Am sorry any one missed it: The family al tar or Religious Teaching in the Home. Religion is contagious as any disease when you come in contact with it. It’s caught as well as taught. I wish more of us could understand the importance of catching it for its a happy feel ing to have a good case of old time religion. (It’s good enuogh for Mr.) and I thank my Lord I got it. We had a solo by Mrs. Harold Pippin. I’ll Wear a White Flower for you Mother Dear. We should al be thankful we have a dear mother even though she has gone on her memory still lives in our hearts and if she still lives with yoh thank yotr God yoo have her pres ence near you to guide and teach you. He is still in the Charlotte Memorial Hospital, Charlotte, N. C. Mrs. Frazier is still under the weather. Mr. Hubert Eddins is still sick. We sympathize deeply with the fam ily and friends of Mrs. Nora Ed dins. She was one of our oldest and most beloved members of our church and communitf, she will be greatly missed. Our loss was Heaven’s gain, so farewell Miss Nora, we will meet sou there some sweet daf, when the roll is called up there, I hope and trust we will all be there to answer. Mr. C. Winstead and his mother, Mrs. Hubert Winstead are vacat ioning in N. Y. a few days. A lot of the old friends and rel atives were back Sunday for Mothers’ Day. We all should be thankful for mothers and fathers day for they are both very dear to our hearts. Mrs. Randolph Hendricks is im proving nicely. Mrs. Gainey is holding her own. As I write this my sympathy goes out to Mr. Lone Long’s fam ily in his death this a. m. Little Kate Pate has mumps, also Billy Bolton has mumps. Mr. J. R. Bolton is back at Mrs. Jack Liles this week. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lynn spent Monday at the John Broughtons. Mrs. H. A. Hodge, Sr. spent the weekend at the home ofher son, H. A. Hodge.
