It certainly didn’t happen to me. Only, I did have a birthday on Friday. I never stop celebrating them. If I stop counting them I am not satisfied about it because I went fishing and didn’t catch many fish, only two. I think I will celebrate it over again and if I don’t do better next time I will wait until next year and try it again. Mrs. Florence Balkum of Cary spent a few days with Mrs. Lyda Bridges this week. Miss Edith Bridges spent the weekend at Blies Creek visiting with friends there. Mr. John Bridges was at home Tuesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Carey Price were visitors at the home of the Edgar Liles family on Sunday. Miss Jewette Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Doyle were over to see Mr. and Mrs. Hooge on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Johnson and Mrs. H. A. Hodge, Sr., were guests at Mrs. C. M. Rhodes Tuesday evening. If anyone knows any news tell me and I will get it into this paper for you. My, we had a swell time and a big crowd at our WMU Sunday. There were 27 present to take the trip with us through South Am erica on as good a program as we have ever had. They sang me a Happy Birthday song and gave cards and gifts, but I was quite disappointed as I was expecting a card from a cer tain bachelor and it got lost or he didn’t send it. Speaking of bach elors there are some that are yet unlisted in the Record. Some young and some older. For in- LADIES EARN UP TO $25.00 weekly addressing and mailing postcards at home. Maybe, if he would launch on his first .voyage some of the rest would fol low—as you know, every ship has to make a first voyage, be the sea rough or calm. Many local men have been on the bachelor list a long time, but it is a bad wind that never changes. And, I have heard that it is bet ter to be An Old Man’s Darling than A Young Man’s Slave. Yes, I have tried it once and I know. I had a certain man ask me the other day why I didn’t get mar ried I was so young and pretty. And I told him I didn’t have time. And I always tell the truth, I am $o much like George Washington. —Mrs. Vera Rhodes.
