C. August 1948 To the Cotton Farmers of the Zebulon Community: Gentlemen: You hear right much talk these days about mechanical cotton pickers. We understand that right here in this section there will be at least one International picker and perhaps several John Deere Harvesters or Strippers. As you know cotton picked or stripped with these machines require much more cleaning machinery at the gin than ordinary hand-picked cotton. So, here’s where we enter the picture. In line with our policy of furnishing our customers with the finest in fertilizer and the best service, we are putting in a brand new 3-80 saw Gullett Cotton Gin Outfit to gin your cotton —whether it be machine- or hand-picked so it will sell for the high dollar and bring you more money. This new equipment includes a drier, a master extractor (or burr machine), a four- and a six-drum cleaner, and super-multiple cleaners before the breast of the gin. Our ginning in the past, with our old outfit, was as good as any, for we always gave every bale our best attention. But now with the new equipment and the same careful, personal attention always given to our gin customers we feel that we can give you a much better “ginning job” than where there is not as much cleaning equipment. \ We expect very shortly to have our new building completed and this new machinery installed. Come in and look it over—it’ll be a pleasure to show you around, discuss your ginning problems with you and show you how ginning with us will mean dollars in your pocket.
