Friday, October 8, 1948 Wootton-Gil I Held Here on Miss Emma Vic Gill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nevel Ruric Gill of Zebulon, and Charles Lewis Wotton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thomas Wootton of Wendell, were married Saturday evening, Octo ber 2, at 8:00 o’clock in a formal ceremony at the Zebulon Baptist Church. The Reverend Carlton T. Mitchell officiated at the double ring ceremony. A program of wedding music jWas rendered by Charles Horton, organist, and Mrs. L. M. Massey, soloist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an origin al gown of Duchess satin, marqui sette yoke, with bertha of Chantil ly lace, fitted bodice, with minia ture satin buttons down the back, long sleeves ending with calla points at the hands, long bouffant skirt caught up with valley lilies over ruffles of lace, fell into a cir cular train. Her finger tip veil of imported illusion, fell from a tiara of Chan tilly lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses, centered with a white orchid, and showered with step hanotis and satin ribbon. Her only ornament was a string of pearls. Miss Norma Fay Gill, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of fuchia taffeta, off shoulder with bertha, fitted bodice, long bouffant skirt over hoops fal ling from bustle back. She wore matching ruffled mitts and ostrich tips. She carried a fuchia muff topped with yellow carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Jo e Hen Gill and Mrs. Randolph Hendricks of Zebulon; Miss Sue Scarborough and Mrs. Miles Dean of Wendell; Miss Dean Edwards of Spring Hope and Miss Marjorie Ann Mitchell of Wilson. They wore gowns of candy green taffeta identical to the maid of honor with matching mitts and ostrich tips. They carried matching muffs and yellow carnations. Misses Emily Dean and Margar et Sanders of Wendell, cousins of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. They wore gowns of pink taffeta identical to the maids of honor and carried matching muffs and yellow carnations. Joe Thomas Wotton of Wendell, father of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were Miles Dean, Jimmy Buchanan, Haywood Lee Swanson and Clarence Wot ton, all of Wendell. James Robert Fowler, Jr., and Ruric Gill, Jr., brother of the bride, of Zebulon. Miss Cindy Carlton of Charlotte and Franklin Dean of Wendell, cousins of the bride, were minia ture bride and groom. The honorary bridesmaids were Misses Carol Wootton, June Liles, Mary Helen More, Heade Moore, Gloria Thompson; Mesdames Jim my Buchanan, Mack Roberts, Warren Dean, all of Wendell; Mis ses Mary Kemp, Joyce Temple, Hilda Winstead, all of Zebulon; 1 Mrs. Glynn Dickerson of Bunn; Miss Margaret Bunn of Peachland ||nd Miss Jeanne Grote of New i fork City. Mrs. Gill, mother of the bride, wore an aqua crepe dress with or chid corsage. Mrs. Wotton, mother °1 bridegroom, wore a fuchia taffeta dress and an orchid cor- 1 sage. She is now employed by the Zebulon branch of the Peoples Bank and Trust Company. Mr. Wotton is a graduate of Wendell High School and attend ed the University of North Caro lina. He is employed by Wachovia Bank and Trust Company in Ral eigh. Immediately after the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained at a reception at the Woman’s Club in Zebulon. Guests were greeted on the porch by Mr. and Mrs. Rom Moser. Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Flowers met the guests at the door and Mr. and Mrs. R. Vance Brown intro duced them to the receiving line, which was composed of the hosts, the parents of the bridegroom, the bridal couple, members of the bri dal party, and the Reverend and Mrs. Carlton T. Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lyles of Wil son directed to the dining room where Mrs. Annie Marshburn of Rocky Mount presided over the punch bowl, assisted by Miss Ca trina Gill. Assisting in serving bridal ices, punch, cakes, nuts and mints were Mesdames J. W. Gill, I. D. Gill, Ed Richardson, Allan Pippin, W. A. Allman and Mrs. H. L. Swanson of Wendell. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Dean of Wendell, showed the way to the gift room where Mesdames Hu bert Liles, Walter Wootton and Miss Helen Wootton received. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sanders pre sided over the guest book. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Carlton of Charlotte. For travelling, the bride wore a cocoa dress with green accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet.
