Page Six Mrs. Vera B. Rhodes Tells Record About Wakefield Promotion Day I think Promotion Day is a great day in our Sunday School and the lives of our younger ones in furthering their minds and hearts in the great work of the Sunday School and Church and Kingdom of our Lord and Master. We need more who are willing to be trained for the great work of the universe. We twr«d 113 at the Church Sunday for Promotion Day. I wish there had of been 313 which we ought to have every Sunday. There are plenty of people all around, if they only had the will to go. We enjoy ed having Professor Smith to speak for us. We all enjoyed his talk very much. We had several promoted. We also enjoyed -he quartet from Knightdale Baptist Church: Mr. Joe Thomas Knott, Lester Flowers, Jr., Louis Curry, Bobby Griffin, with Mrs. Lester Flowers, pianist. They sang two beautiful songs for us. Come again some time. Joe Thomas used to be one of our boys here. We have missed the whole family a lot since they moved away some years ago. We were glad to have several of our old members back with us on that day, Mrs. Lucy Bunn, Mrs. Avon Honeycutt, Mrs. Jim Honey cutt and Lula Honeycutt she used to be, I can’t think who she mar ried but she is from Philadelphia. We were glad to see them all once again. Mr. W. M. Hood has got back from Canada after seven weeks of work up there. Hood returned from Boonville Sunday. Mr. L. G. Faulkner and family went to Rocky Mount Sunday vis iting relatives. We all looked forward to Far mer’s Day and hearing our Con gressman Harold Cooley. I am glad we had a pretty day for the occasion. I am afraid I have forgotten how to pitch horseshoes. I used to do a lot of it. If I was only in practice I would try. I did win $33.50 in prizes at the Zebulon Fair. Little Jimmy Hodge started to school last Monday. I sure am glad to see him able to go. We all extend our sympathy to the family of Mr. Addie Whitaker in the death of his wife. We all are sorry to hear Mr. Lloyd Eddins is in Duke Hospital for an operation. His wife is here with him. We hope he will soon be good as new. He is the son of Harry Eddins who passed away some weeks ago. We are sorry Professor Smith had a great fall while pumping the wa'?r out of a hole back of the school building. We are glad he wasn’t glass, because if he had of been, he would have been splintered. • Well, so long. Vera Rhodes.
