Page Four Camporee Is Scheduled For Scouts This Week Three candidates passed the ex amination supervised by George Riggsby Massey and were declared ready to become Tenderfoot Scouts at the meeting of Troop 40 in the Hut Monday night. The successful candidates were Irvin Murphy, Floyd McCabe and Keith Temple. The applications have been mail ed to Occoneechee Council head quarters in Raleigh, and the Scouts are hoping the membership cards will be back in time for the trio to take part in the camporee to be held this weekend. A checker tournament was play ed at the close of the meeting, and Billy McCabe won first place, Bob by McGee took second. The troop will leave Friday af ternoon with full camping equip ment for the camporee at Camp Durant, located between Raleigh and Wake Forest. They will re turn to Zebulon Sunday afternoon. Simpson-Gordon Mi and Mrs. W. O. Gordon of Wendell, Route 2, announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Frances, to Leslie G. Simpson, son of Mr. W. L. Simpson of Zebulon, late Mrs. Simpson of Zebulon,, Route 2, on Sunday, the third of October. After a short wedding trip they will be at home in Norfolk, Va. Bridge Club Meets Mrs. Ferd Davis was hostess last Wednesday to the Young Matron’s Bridge Club. After several pro gressions of bridge high and low score awards for the club were presented Mrs. Eugene Privett and H. C. Wade, with high for guests going to Mrs. Armstrong Cannady. Pitts and Mrs. Rodney McNabb, the past weekend. Miss Nancy Whitley of WCUNC, Greensboro, spent the past week end in Zebulon with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitley. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Johnson and daughter, Nancy of Tarboro, and Mr. and Mrs. D. Mac Johnston of Enfield and daughter, Osee Mac of Meredith College were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pittman Stell and Mrs. B. H.
