Davis Years ago the history we now call secular was frequently refer ed to as “profane” to distinguish it from sacred history as found in the Bible. In rny mind profane had only one meaning then, and I looked all through my History of Virginia, hunting for “cuss words,” and failing to find them because that history had been most carefully edited. Wf read some time ago of wet ter water, and chemists are still j working on this. They add to or dinary water one per cent of pen etrant which makes three or four times as much as the whole amount would do untreated; also greatly reducing damage and smoke, to say nothing of danger to firemen. I Mrs. Eugene Armbruster of Raleigh was kind enough to send me this recipe with a nice little note. Both are appreciated and I hope you make some rolls by these ■ directions. They are extra good. Buttermilk Rolls 5 cups flour (sift before measur ing), 1% cups buttermilk, 3 tablespoons sugar, 3 tablespoons lard, V\ teaspoon baking powder, Va teaspoon baking soda, l\k tea spoon salt, I yeast cake.
