Friday, November 12, 1948 Song Festival to Be Held This Weekend There will be a song festival at Samaria Baptist Church, located 6 miles east of Zebulon on High way 95, next Sunday afternoon November 14th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Six outstanding trios and quar tets will be there to participate in the a. girig of the afternoon. They are The Friendly Four Quartet of Durham, The Melody Masters Quartet of Four Oaks, The Royall of Smithfield, The Wood -I'll Quartet of Smithfield, The Sisters Trio of Dunn, and The Suvalan Trio of Smithfield, N. C. An amplifying system will be in stalled both in and outside the church so all who attend may hear these fine singers. Thirty minutes of the program will be recorded by radio station WVOT, Wilson, for broadcast later. Enlist in U. S. Army William H. W.ood, 20, Route 3, Zebulon and Wallace E. Liles, 19, Route 4, Zebulon, enlisted in the Regular Army unassigned for three years last week, S-Sgt. M. G. Sparks, commander of the Raleigh Recruiting Station, announced yes terday. Club Meeting Dates Listed For Ladies The regular meeting of the Jr. Woman’s Club will he held Tues day evening, November 16, at the club house. The Zebulon Woman’s Club will hold its November meeting next Tuesday, November 16, at 3:45 p.m. at the clubhouse. Mrs. Z. N. Culpepper will have charge of the program, which is on international relations. Host esses will be Mrs. J. F. Coltrane and Mrs. J. C. Kemp. Terry spent the week end in Wilson, visiting her sister who is quite sick, in the hospital. Mr. Bayard V. Chamblee of Asheville, spent several days here last week visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bunn of Peachland, formerly of Zebulon, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Mc- Leod, to James Thomas Moss of Youngsville. The wedding will to take place in December. Mr. and Mrs.. L. R. Temple have both been confined to bed for two weeks. Their daughter. Mrs. Frank Cooper, has come from Greensboro to help care for them. • Capt. Ted Pippin has been trans ferred from Hawaii to Montana and with his family is already in the States. Mrs. Fred Clark and family wish to express their thanks to the many friends who have shown kindness and sympathy during the illness and death of their husband and father, Fred Clark. Two Zebulon Coeds Attend BSU Meeting Miss Carolyn Massey, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Massey of Zebulon, is a member of the group of 50 Meredith College girls leav ing today on a special bus for the North Carolina Baptist Student Union Convention being held in Gastonia. Miss Nancy Whitley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitley is attending the Convention as a del egate from W. C. U. N. C., Greens boro Scouts Collect Shoes Boy Scouts of Troop 40 will cov er the town this afternoon collect ing shoes for children of Europe. They want 1,000 pairs from Zebu lon.
